The Moorings- a caring community

The facilities and staff are outstanding. My husband and I were helping my parents to try to find the right place for them. We had visited a couple other places but our first visit to The Moorings of Arlington Heights convinced us that this was the place for them. It has a very caring environment and the campus is beautiful ones having once been an old farm. Leah, The residency counselor that worked with us was fantastic. She is extremely knowledgeable, supportive and helped us through the entire process. We were on a waiting list for a little while but ended up with a beautiful apartment perfect for my parents . We just moved them in and are anxious for them to become settled and part of the community. I would recommend this place to anyone I know.

Home

I made a downsizing transition from a rural small town 150 year old, 4 bedroom, 2 story, full basement, walk in attic home with a separate two car, full back workshop garage into the 2 bedroom, well designed kitchen, just right dining area, spacious living room, 1 and 1 1/2 bathroom, closets galore apartment here in Ten Twenty Grove. There is also free outside off the street or affordable indoor parking along with complete maintenance, regular housekeeping, a nurse available 3 days a week, and so on -- I could go on, but clearly I am fully impressed by the wisely focused consideration and care given to making living here as close as it can be to living in a home, comfortable, cozy, quiet, private, your own. The people who are now my neighbors are interesting and naturally friendly. The staff is very knowledgeable and quickly helpful for any need I express. The surrounding area is a wonderfully charming part of Evanston with shops, restaurants, and more just a short walk away. You can't take your home with you, but you can create not just a place to live but a pleasurably new home here.

This is just about one of the most premier places you could ever be.

This is just about one of the most premier places you could ever be. We stayed in a guest suite for almost a week before choosing them. We tried the food, and met the people. It's fantastic. They are doing a really good job for my loved one. I have had lots of experience with these kind of places, and they are easily one of the best.

Feeling good; eating well; looking good. Highlands is the place.

The Highlands was extremely helpful in my mom's move-in. She had a slight health hiccup right before move in and Highlands liaisoned well with the hospital and health professionals. Mom was transitioned to the McGaw Care Center for a few days before she went to her cozy apartment at the Highlands. Mom raved about the food both at McGaw and at the Highlands. She is eating better than she has for quite a while. And she was also very impressed with the skill of the beautician! How convenient is that - to have the beauty salon on site. Looking good makes one feel good.

Tour of Highlands

We toured The Highlands and thought it was very nice. I would recommend others to tour this community. We chose another community because The Highlands did not fit into our budget.

Come and take a look. You;ll love it.

The Moorings of Arlington Heights is a wonderful place to live. Residents and employees are very friendly. The go out of their way to keep you safe and accommodate your every need and want. Wide variety of things to do. While it is a Prespaterian facility, they make sure you have access to all other religions.

It's really nice.

My loved one wanted to stay here after we came fro rehab. It's really nice. They had social activities, and he enjoyed going to meals. It's really expensive, though. One of the nurses even came to visit him in his new home when he moved.

I have to admit I didn't look as much there because as soon as we found out they couldn't accomodate her dietary needs (food needs to be in small pieces, not pureed, but mechanically ground) and that was extremely important but the layout was very good.

Memory Care
February 14, 2015

While this facility is clean, bright and basically well maintained, it is severely understaffed. Within the memory care unit there have been numerous falls and patients are often left unattended. My family has had to pay for external care to supplement the care currently provided. Two staff members have been found sleeping on the job and the supervising nurse allows the CNAs to take breaks during lunch service leaving patients to fend for themselves - many of whom are incapable of feeding themselves. We are extremely disappointed.
