Employees are very kind and attentive

My mother resided at Millenium Memory Care of Ocean for the last four months of her life. She had dementia and needed a lot of assistance. The staff did a great job keeping her clean and well fed. I like the way the place feels like a house rather than an institution. I only wish I had found them sooner.

Great Experience

We were so fortunate to find millennium in Homdel. Despite the behaviors my uncle showed, they took care of him, were patient, and treated him like a person. Thelma is an excellent communicator and made sure we were aware of the happenings. She sat with us during many visits to make sure we felt comfortable. The assistants were also very attentive. Millennium knows how to care very well for their patients.

Tour Experience

We took a tour of Millennium Memory Care at Ocean during our search for a Memory Care facility for our loved one. The manager is fabulous. She is very responsive to phone calls and questions. The neighborhood is beautiful and peaceful. The way the building is laid out, it feels like a lodge at a resort.

I wish I found this place sooner

I appreciate Millenium's willingness to wean my mother off of the psych meds that were prescribed to her at a previous facility for behavior typical of dementia patients. She is much more alert and awake as a result. The move-in process was exceptionally smooth and easy. They provide the furniture and a checklist of items to supply. After I gave my consent, the Director made contact with the rehab facility that my mother was in and coordinated her discharge. The meals are homemade and smell delicious! The building is kept very clean and straight. There are a few choices for relaxing outdoors. There is a huge screened-in porch with lots of seating; a covered front porch with rocking chairs; an enclosed courtyard. There is also a walking path that goes around the backyard and building. I am very happy with the level of care that my mother receives. She is no longer ambulatory or continent. The staff does a great job with keeping her neat and clean. They are always helpful and friendly and they let me know how she is doing. The place has a homey feel to it. Communication is easy. Any time I have questions, the manager makes sure to answer them fully. If follow-up is required, she makes sure to get back to me. The Manager is very nice and welcomes questions. She gave me her cell phone number so I can text or call at any time. I highly recommend the facility. I think that some other places don't really understand dementia, but I feel that they do at Millennium Memory Care at Freehold.

A Safe, Caring Home Even for More Difficult Residents

Millennium's staff and program are wonderful. There's a lot of personal attention and care and interest in the residents as individuals. In particular, the house manager, [name removed], and the director of operations, [name removed], are very involved and great at communication and all the rest of their jobs. The energy that's put into making residents comfortable and bringing them as much happiness as possible is wonderful. The thing I would most want to add to the A Place for Mom database is that Millennium, unlike so many other memory care facilities, not only accepts residents with a history of aggression/combativeness, but specializes in them. It's very odd to me how many facilities for people with dementia are unable to deal with these sort of symptoms, even though it's not uncommon in this population. Millennium has a very different outlook and it was such a relief to find them after Dad was evicted from his first facility and refused entry to others. Millennium has more experience and infrastructure for behavior management. I have professional experience in applied behavior analysis, and the staff at Millennium was clearly more in tune with how to safely maintain residents without needing to expel them for challenging behaviors.

Excellent care

To be perfectly honest, Millennium Memory care was not my first choice but it turned out to be my BEST choice when it came time to place my husband in a dementia facility. I initially chose a larger facility with constant activities thinking he would meet new people and have fun, engaging activities to participate in. instead he was overwhelmed and confused which caused many combative behavioral episodes, resulting in him being sent to the hospital constantly. A hospital social worker recommended I look into Millennium Memory Care. When I first visited the Freehold facility it wasn't open, yet, but I could tell it was going to be a very nice place. Because of my previous experience, I was a bit skeptical. My husband has been there almost 6 months now, is doing well and best of all, has NOT been sent out! The facility is very clean and he receives excellent care, thanks to [name removed] and her caring staff. This place is not a facility, it is a home.

A Wonderful Home for My Dad

My family is so grateful to have found Millennium Memory Care of Holmdel. After a short, stressful and ultimately unsuccessful stay at a large memory care facility, my father has found a home at Millennium. The Holmdel location is beautiful and well maintained location where the sense of community has allowed my dad to settle in to a daily routine. We know he is well cared for, well fed (important for our family!) and comfortable. [Name removed] and the entire staff do a wonderful job and we know my dad is in good hands. We are thankful for them all! I would 100% recommend Millennium Memory Care of Holmdel to anyone looking for a home for a loved one.

A good community

From our understanding our loved one is eating all the meals he is served so we have to assume the meals are pretty good. They do offer activities, we are just not sure how many they are offering at the moment. We also think the value for cost is good.

A great place

We chose Millennium Memory Care because he had a violent episode and was combative and no place would take him because of that. They were the only facility willing to step up and take him because they specialize in disruptive behavior with Alzheimer's. They deal with it in a less medicated way and try very hard to minimize the drugs and use behavioral techniques. They were very welcoming and receptive and they have done great with him, he is off a lot of the medications he was on. The room sizes here seem to be sufficient, they each have their own bathroom and share showers in the hallway. I would recommend to others looking.

My brother is safe and well-cared for here!

The best place for my brother, who has a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and physical limitations!! The staff is friendly and caring. They also communicate with me about any/all issues that pop up now and then. Right now, especially with the pandemic going on, I was glad that they were on top of protecting the residents early and quickly. My brother gets Physical Therapy, and he is doing remarkably well, thanks to the therapy! Thank you to Thelma & staff for your untiring care of my brother and of others' loved ones!

A God Send

I placed my father here after receiving a referral from a social worker at the hospital he was staying with last. I felt at a loss as out of all of the places we were calling, over and over again he was being rejected. I received a call soon after speaking with the social worker from [name removed] who assisted with setting up a tour. I toured the Monroe location with my mother and we both agreed it was the right fit for my dad. He has been there just over a year now. The staff is so loving and accomadating and his behaviors seem to have been kept in check and he is doing as well as he can be doing. I visit him regularly and am grateful to have found a place like this for him. I truly thank everyone that was a part in him getting to Millennium Memory as this has been such a difficult journey. Millennium has relieved us from so much of this.

Great care at Millenium

Although we only there a short time before her passing, the care was excellent. I base this on having my loved one in another care facility where the care was not adequate and was unable to deal with any situation out of the normal. The price is very comparable to other facilities but the care is much better. The staff were much better at handling any of the behavioral issues that come along with dementia and memory loss. The smaller group home population helps to personalize care. I would recommend this place to others. It was always clean, the meals were cooked on premise and there were many activities to keep attention focused. It is such a hard 'condition' to live with and to watch someone go through but I think Millennium Memory Care is a positive solution.
