Caring and support in a community home

[Names removed] and the caretakers at this community home helped our mom feel loved and welcome in the last year of her life. She developed bonds with other residents and the staff. The staff could not have been more attentive. We particularly appreciated how clean everyone kept the home, inside and out. That was something mom always cared about. Mom was a fussy eater and the staff showed patience and helped make sure she ate. Compared to the senior home where she lived previously, Porter Aloha was a much better choice.

only thing that is missing at Porter Ranch are the activities

The only thing that is missing at Porter Ranch are the activities. Mom came from a facility that had activities going on all day long. The residents here are always asleep in front of the TV. The owner says that is all the residents want to do. They just aren't as aware or as able bodied here. If this facility would organize some activities and get mom engaged that would be great. The facility is lovely and the staff are very friendly here.

Loving Dedication

Bruce and Viola Partridge's loving dedication to the elderly is truly manifested in the way Aloha II operates. The well maintained home creates a comfortable, warm and calm atmosphere for the residents and visiting families. Patient and kind caregivers dedicated to individual care are responsive not only to the residents but to suggestions or requests for the residents. Overall the home is a very pleasant and peaceful environment. Our Mom lived here over five years and we felt as though the caregivers treated her like a member of their own family.

Mom's New "Home"

Five years ago my Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and was no longer able to live alone. She was 89 years old. I selected Aloha to care for her. On the day I moved her in she was in tears and frightened to stay there stating she didn’t know anyone and she was scared. The next day I went to visit her and she was as happy as could be. The caregivers made her feel welcome and secure. Within the month my Mom was calling Aloha home! The owners, Bruce and Viola, take a personal interest in each person. They truly care about each resident as an individual. As my mother’s condition worsened, she began to have seizures. She ended up in the hospital. The next thing I knew Bruce showed up to see how my Mom was doing. This was out of a personal compassion for my Mom’s well being, not a business obligation. Bruce or Viola were always available to take my Mom to her doctor’s appointments and when she became wheelchair bound arranged for transportation to get her to her appointments. When my mother became bedridden she received excellent care. She never got bedsores and was always immaculately clean. As my mother neared the end of her life, Aloha staff worked with hospice to ensure she was always comfortable and pain-free. One feature that I believe sets Aloha apart from other facilities is the fact that they have a night staff. This person is awake all night and addresses any issues that may come up. If necessary they will put an alarm in the room that senses when the resident gets up so that the staff can come in and check on them. They try to find activities that match each person’s abilities and interests. They have made arrangements with several musicians to come into the home and play and sing music. This brings smiles and happiness as they remember some of these songs. Some of the residents that don’t normally talk, end up singing the words of familiar music. The music truly triggers something in their memory. Also, they have contacted some local churches and a Bible study or communion is conducted at the facility weekly for anyone wishing to participate. The food that they provide is of good quality and is healthy and nutritious. Viola makes quite a few of the meals from scratch. They will also address unique dietary requirements as necessary. The facility is clean and neat. The atmosphere is light and cheery and they have a beautiful patio with a fountain that residents can enjoy. It is very calming. The staff is well-trained on the care of elders. They are extremely patient and attentive. Two years ago my Aunt, who never had any children, required assistance. I was very fortunate that there was an opening at Aloha. I am truly blessed to have a facility of this high quality to care for my relatives.

Bruce was very helpful in making the arrangements to have my mother moved from her previous home in Santa Monica to Aloha III. He arranged for the taxi, movers, phone and cable lines. He was patient and gentle with my mom. The staff is professional and friendly. The home is immaculate. The neighborhood is beautiful.

A loving, safe and quality care home!

The Aloha II in Chatsworth is a very exceptional residential care facility. The staff are attentive and loving to the residents. The cook is exceptional. My 88 year-old mother loved her pancakes. The grounds are beautiful. I had great communication with the owner who lives locally and is often present at the care home. On holidays, there was always a card or even a gift. My mother did pass away. She was on hospice and the Aloha II stayed by her side and attended to her needs during this very last phase of her life. Nobody likes to face leaving their own home or having to place their parents, but the Aloha II was really comforting! I highly recommend.

Mom's last home

Porter Ranch Aloha III was a lovely, clean, calm, loving home for my mom and us, her family members, to spend the last days of our mom's, grandmother's life. [Removed] and his staff gave her the best of care, and us, the best support and peace knowing she was being respectfully cared for. Thank you from everyone of Pearl's family.

Excellant job. Aloha 11 is a God send.

I was very impressed with Aloha11 and the other two homes Partridge Family Homes owns. I expected to find a smaller version of a convalescent home. I am more impressed now that my husband is living there and is adjusting very well. Bruce Partridge has been very helpful and cooperative in meeting my husband needs due to dementia. He is at a higher level of cognizance than the other five residents. I feel Bruce and his staff have gone the "extra mile" in giving him daily involvement and encouragement that he needs to be happy there.
