An awesome place

You always wonder if the price is too cheap and not a good place but this place has the BEST staff and at an inexpensive price and no add-ons. Lots of communication. What you would expect form the most expensive places. Not a single disappointment so far. My Mom has been here for 3 months now. Thank You so much for the recommendation and the help with negotiating a price.

It is clean and they go above in de orating for each holiday. Looks great and always festive. The staff are very friendly. The groves has a new activity director and she is adding more activities, they still need more added in my opinion. They have changed directors and nursing director since my mom came in sept. The hot food is cold most of the time when served to resident in eating area. They need to improve on that add more fruit.

About 12 years ago, my sister-in-law was here and the facility takes title 19 patients. It’s certainly an older facility, I think maybe an old hospital, but the advantage that they have over everywhere else is that they offer apartments and all different levels of care, but they’re all within the same facility. I believe the difference in care, though, is that they have what the state requires – 1 staff person per 12 members. Whereas other places offer a more personalized approach. It isn’t a bad facility, just isn’t wonderful. There are a lot more new places available now.

Didn't Get Back to Me

I toured it and I liked it. I was very impressed with their facility but the never did get back to me so I wasn't able to get a price and I went ahead with another place.

The Groves - an all inclusive community based on need. This review is Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Facility Only

I hope this helps. They are honest I can say that. They have all new management and they are really trying to impress all of us. They are going through a readjustment phase from what I can tell. I would rate the overall community a 3 I think. I want to give them a 4 but they do not have enough staff to help the residents more than they are. It's a judgment call I admit. I think they can reach 4, in time.

tour review

Our family had an in person tour with The Groves and based on the tour experience and the community it was just not going to be the place for our loved one. IT also did not have memory care.

Not for loved ones

Please do not have loved ones there, change of ownership in last 2 yrs, the place is FILTHY, my loved one moved in 6 yrs ago, was great, now it's a nitemare! The food is a nitemare, shortage of kitchen staff, have one employee in kitchen more than once in last 3 months for 350 residents! Dinner served at 8pm in styrofoam. One dinner was mashed potatoes with canned corn thrown in and brown gravy, 4 bites of frozen chicken nuggets. No salad no milk, no fruit, no drink. I have the pictures to prove. The pictures you see are over 15 years ago. Potholes for months in parking lot, dead trees, landscaping the allowed weeds to over grow, place will be shut down I'm sure, it couldn't get worse I think, then it does, residents barely get proper care due to high turnover. Im sorry its HORRIBLE

Worse and worse

My parents lived here for 4 years. At first, it seemed like a good decision, despite a terrible early stint in "skilled nursing" (really bad care) after an operation. My parents' apt. was fine, my dad played pool in the atrium with friends while my mom walked around it. The food was at least edible. But every year, lack of attention to resident needs worsened. Broken washing machines went unfixed for months. Things that needed cleaning or replacing did without. Services got cut even as fees increased. No more free transportation—$75 to run errands or go to the doctor? The woodshop closed, ending my dad's hobby. Food got worse and worse—my folks sometimes threw dinner away, and once said, "We weren't even sure what it was." They knew how bad assisted living/skilled nursing were, so they moved to [facility name removed] before it came to that. The difference is night and day. Real care, real service, a real community. Yes, it's more $. And worth it. Seniors deserve better than The Groves.

Not Good

Started out good three yrs. ago but now it has really gone down. Terrible food (mother has lost a lot of weight), can't get things fixed when needed(broken toilet for a week). I'm so disappointed and feel sorry for Mother. Need to find a better place.
