My Tour Experience at Grant Serenity of San Fernando Valley

I really liked the community; however, it was more than we wanted to spend at the time.

[Name removed] and her team at Grant Serenity Home of Pasadena did an excellent job with the move in process. During a time that was very stressful for me and my family, [name removed] and her staff were calm, reassuring, and helped us get all the logistics ironed out for a move from the Bay Area to SoCal. The employee to resident ratio is small here - which gave me reassurance that my mom will be very well cared for. The location is always clean and the staff is always happy and inviting when I come for a visit. I'd recommend Grant Serenity Home of Pasadena to anyone looking for a great board and care experience!

Nice, but not a fit for advanced Alzheimer's

This review is for the Grant Serenity facility on Verdugo Ave. in Burbank (which is not listed on this site). While the house is lovely and well-maintained and the staff seem nice and well-meaning, they do not have the training necessary to provide care to seniors with challenging behaviors due to Alzheimer's. Our father entered the facility able-bodied, but it became clear their primary goal was to use chemical restraints to make him bedridden as quickly as possible. They did this by having us sign up for their preferred hospice, St. Vincent (avoid this hospice at all costs). Unfortunately, our father died a little over 7 weeks after admission to Grant Serenity, due to the medications the hospice had him on. The hospice and Grant Serenity have not taken responsibility for their actions which resulted in his rapid decline, loss of consciousness for two days, and ultimately, his death.
