Our Families Experience

[name removed] did a virtual tour for us because we do not live in MN, she was happy to answer our questions and she introduced us to the head of nursing who asked questions about my sister, after learning about her and how independent she has been all her life he recommended independent living versus constant care and they would aid her as needed. They were so concerned for her independence. Benedictine is a beautiful and clean facility. The entire staff have been so warm and welcoming. My sister needed a lot of assistance at first and they were prompt, gentle and kind. She has fallen and aids were there promptly to help. The food is very good and if something is not to a residence liking they offer alternatives. The kitchen staff is wonderful. They have projects and activities for the residents and they allow residents to suggest projects. I did my research and Benedictine is without a doubt the best value out there.

Highly Recommended

This is a great community. It is wonderful place to have your loved one go to. The staff are so good with my loved one. I absolutely love Benedictine Living Community. The staff were able to assist my loved one in getting acclimated to the community and their new living arrangements. The head nurse was able to be a sounding board for the family when we needed it, and gave great suggestions to us as well. The meals are great! The staff are willing to accommodate requests made by the resident. There are movies, bingo, cards, and more for the residents to participate in for activities. The community is willing to work with the family and our loved one on things my loved one needs medically.

We dislike the one front desk staff during the day. I just found most everyone to be friendly, it's a smaller environment which was nice. I had lunch there in the dining room and the staff were excellent.

A good place for memory care

We chose Benedictine Living Community because it was the closest to us and she was able to age in place and stay in memory care. It is a nice and clean environment. Another reason we chose this facility was because if/when your loved one runs out of money, they do accept elderly waiver here. I would definitely recommend them to others looking.

Great Assisted Living Community at River Oaks

This is a smaller community, but they are very friendly. Generally the staff are very nice and provide good care. I wish there were more staff working, like at a lot of companies today. The staff communication with the family have been very good, and they are receptive to the family's questions and concerns. Medication management, bathing, hygiene, and more are some of the care the community is able to provide. The room, utilities, changing of linens, housekeeping, and laundry are included in the monthly rate. They have menu that residents can order off of , and the food is very good. The community has a public restaurant that city members will come and eat at as well.

Very Welcoming

The staff have been super friendly and helpful, which was a pleasant surprise. It's a little community, so that has its advantages. It's personal and all that. However, that can have its disadvantages as well. For instance, if the person who does the maintenance is sick that day, it doesn't get done until the next day. But it's been a good experience overall. My loved one actually really likes the food. And she likes it there in general. It has been really good for.

Tour of River Oaks

River Oaks was awesome, we loved it! All of the staff including the chef came out and introduced themselves. The meals are amazing and everyone raves about the food. The only reason we did not choose this facility was because the studio was a little smaller and did not get as much natural light. But other than that it is a great choice and I would recommend to check them out.

Good experience

We chose River Oaks because my brother is a Korean war vet and they had a lot of vets here, it seemed to be a smaller facility, and the people that we met with were very friendly and helpful. The staff members really seem to care about their residents and they seem to be very on top of things. It has been a good experience so far and I know that everyone here is trying their best in these hard times. I would recommend to others looking.

Great place for mom

My mother has been living at the facility for a year now, and she loves it. She is in the smallest apartment available, but it is more than adequate for her. It has a large living room, bedroom with walk-in closet, full kitchen with range/oven, full size fridge, dishwasher and microwave, and a bathroom. There is also a stackable washer/dryer. The staff is very attentive. The nurse noticed that that she was not taking her medications at the right time, and informed me right away. They also alert me when she need additional medication. The staff is very polite and they communicate well. The activities are setup like a cruise ship; there are lots of things to do with others if you like social events, but you can stay in your room if you'd like. In addition to weekly trips to the grocery / drug stores, there are also special events like concerts at North Central College, a movie on site every Sunday in the Great room, and Wii Bowling tournaments. In December, the residents took a bus into downtown Chicago for lunch in the Walnut Room at Macy's and a Christmas concert right after. The food is varied and tastes good. Residents can choose from a Deli/Cafe, Bar/Lounge, or formal sit-down restaurant foe their meal choices, and meals are included in the monthly fee. The campus is great for walking, especially once the weather warms up. There are walking paths with benches, so it's easy to get some exercise or find an isolated spot to read a book. There are gazebos outside the restaurant so dining al fresco is an option. All in all, it's a good fit for mom. She has plenty of opportunities for interaction and she is enjoying her time there.

My no-brained choice

Wonderful people, beautiful campus with many trees over 47 acres, well kept up. Great food, good service. The jewel is the large chapel with daily Mass at 11:30. Good location. Not your typical facility with a parking lot and practically no campus. Many living options. See villastben.org for two nice videos.

So happy we made the move to Villa St Benedict

Our parents moved from their large suburban home to one of the Villa St Benedict Villas. It was a perfect transition for them. It was very spacious, with a garage and patio. We furnished it with their own furniture and most cherished possessions. The staff is caring, diligent and responsive. Needing increasing care, my mom is now in Assisted Living and my dad in the dementia care unit (Abbey Lane.). They are able to spend time together, attend events and even go on field trips. We have completely personalized their new apartments with their own furniture and their most important mementos. Our extended family enjoys the Villa St Benedict facilities, attending programs, having family events in the dining room and even renting the hospitality (bar) area for special birthdays and anniversaries.

This place is fabulous! Mom & dad chose to downsize and move here 4 years ago since they had been residents of Lisle for a long time. Mom has since passed and being a part of this community has really helped my father to adjust. VSB is only a phone call away for questions, concerns, and updates. Love this place!

Mom was very pleased with River Oaks of Anoka. We put down a deposit and started the paperwork after we toured. The apartment is lovely with many windows for a lot of natural light to shine in. We are looking forward to have mom move in as soon as we can. The staff is fantastic and the food is home made every day. Thank you [Name removed] for all your help in finding River Oaks for us!
