This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include communities must provide medical nutrition therapy if prescribed by a licensed health care professional, Food must be prepared in accordance with the recommended daily dietary allowances of the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academy of Sciences National Research Council, and three daily meals and snacks must be provided. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include assisting a resident to keep appointments, medication management, guidance, and being aware of a resident’s general whereabouts. Staff members receive training in a number of areas. These include: standard precautions, staff training program based on the home’s program statement, containment of infectious disease, and staff training program based on the residents’ service plans.
