Very caring staff, continually coming in to see what they could do for my loved one (like keeping his lips moistened, etc). When he was brought there by ambulance, his room was completely ready. They had unpacked his boxes, displayed his mementos on his bookshelves, shelved his books, made up his bed. Each night, the staff brought in a phone so that my loved one could hear his son's voice. Our family had an in person tour with Waltonwood Twelve Oaks and the reason we gave them 2 stars is because they were under construction in their independent section. We did not get to see much of the facility and they really should not have been conducting tours - lots of confusion.
I have visited Waltonwood Twelve Oaks for a number of years to give presentations for the residents. I see an effort by the staff to provide positive activities for the residents, teaching, and providing entertainment, comfort and care.

Our tour at Waltonwood Twelve Oaks was very nice. It just seemed a little big in terms of population for my loved one.
The caregivers have really been so wonderful! The financial part of it is sometimes frustrating. But the caregivers are fantastic, and that's what matters most.

Right now I am having major issues with my apartment and you have to send in numerous requests to get any kind of response or get anything done which is why they receive an overall 1 right now. Response time needs a lot of improvement. Overall the cleanliness of the community is very good. The friendliness of the staff is excellent. The food is usually served warm and they do offer a lot of activities.

This was a nice community, it felt a little older.
Waltonwood is a really nice place with really nice food. they do offer activities as well. the staff seem to care a lot about their residents. it is on the pricier side, but I feel more confident in my loved ones health, rather than having them live alone.

I felt the community wasn't doing the best job in care for my loved one. The turnover in this community is high, due to the community expanding too fast. The turnover included the management team. Waltonwood even misplaced my loved one's clothes at one point.

The home is nice, however the senior management tends to change often. Decided to move my love one to group home as the care was far superior and cost was much less. As of date have not received refund of pro-rated meals and meds etc. Should be a substantial check but hasn't showed yet. Also, I was block out of the portal online acct, so checking online is not an option. A few things like this have happened over the last year.

I toured Waltonwood, and it is absolutely beautiful. It would have been really nice for the independent care section, but my mother needs memory care, and for the price, I just didn’t think it was practical. It had a glitzy feel to it, and my father really wanted a more homey feeling for my mother, so we opted for a more practical community with a homier environment.

This property is very well maintained and kept clean. The building was updated with great amenities offered to the residents. The staff was excellent during our tour and gave us lots of detailed information about the community. The price was way to expensive for my loved one and I to afford.

When my Mom was diagnosed with dementia it was my goal to keep her happy and comfortable. I am happy to say that over the past seven years and especially the last fourteen months I was able to reach my goal of keeping Mom happy and comfortable. A big part of that is having her at Waltonwood. Thanks to a beautiful environment and to a warm and caring staff Mom is always happy and cheerful. It is such a wonderful thing to have help with Mom’s “activities of daily living” so that I can spend quality time with her without feeling overwhelmed with having to care for her and a family of my own. It gives me great peace of mind to know that she is well cared for in a loving and supportive environment. I don’t even have words to express my appreciation to all the wonderful people who work at Waltonwood. I appreciate all that has to happen to make Waltonwood the “home” that it is for my Mom and all the other residents. I don’t know what the next days, weeks or years will bring as we continue our journey but I do rest assured that my Mom is in the best place she can be and I want to thank every single person who works at Waltonwood for being a part of our journey.

My father moved into Waltonwood in December of 2012 in the memory care facility. In those two years they have changed at least 3 directors, the social director three times, and wellness coordinator twice. The caregivers change weekly. My experience is that they start you off by charging with rent plus medications and level of care. Then they continually find ways to charge you by upgrading levels of care and rent increases. Example: Moving in Rent $5,345.00 per month Medication $240.00 per month Level of Care: $365.00 per month For a total of $5,950.00 per month The proposed new lease beginning December 2014: $5726 rent $ 275 medication $1295 care level 3 For a total of $7296.00 per month Once they have you in their facility, the rates go up based on their “assessment” of care level, which they can and will increase. My father needed less care, rather than more, yet they insisted on the increase. The same with the rent. They did nothing extra, yet increased the rent $381.00 per month. It became very clear to me that their motive was to squeeze as much money as they could out of the residents. When trying to discuss this, they stood firm. Unfortunately, my father died after two years. Upon moving out, we had the room cleaned within two days, and told via phone (I live 4 hours away), that no additional charges would be incurred in reference to cleaning. Even though I paid a full months rent in advance, I was charged for two days, after it was cleaned and vacated, and verbally approved. I tried to discuss this with their book keeping department [removed], and was told that she spoke with [removed] (I believe Executive Director) and would have to pay these charges. While there truly are very good caregivers, the management was less than honest and straightforward. I would never recommend Waltonwood as a place for anyone to send their loved ones. Money appears to be their main motivation.

A Place for Mom has scored Waltonwood Twelve Oaks 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
