Assisted living communities have the luxury of organized social events and apartment style housing as well as individualized support. Assisted living communities often offer outings for leisurely activity, aid with daily activities, and help with transit and appointments. In select situations, communities may offer respite, nursing care, or hospice. In Illinois, the annual median cost for an assisted living community is around $50,040 . Public assistance is available through A Medicaid 1915(c) waiver called the Supported Living Program and a 1915(b) waiver called the Managed Long-Term Services and Supports program. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include communities must provide three daily meals. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. There is a maximum occupancy of 1 residents per room. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 3. There must be one bath or shower for every residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to assure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as evaluation of a prospective resident’s physical condition, A comprehensive assessment, provider must ensure that the resident and the resident’s representative, if any, are informed of the potential consequences of activities that the provider considers to pose risks to health and/or safety, and evaluation of a prospective resident’s cognitive condition.
