Arts, Culture, Entertainment, and Recreation


As a wealthy suburb of Atlanta, the city of Alpharetta has access to all of the arts and cultural opportunities that the metropolitan area has to offer. For shopping options there is the North Point Mall which has a number of big-name department stores. There is also Avalon, a 86-acre development with more than 500,000 square feet of retail stores and a 12-screen premium theater. The planned community combines resort-level hospitality with walkable shopping, dining, and entertainment options.

There are many parks in the city that offer great opportunities for a leisurely stroll. One of the local favorites is Wills Park, which has paved walking trails and a dog park. A popular spot among veterans is the Alpharetta Walk of Memories. The small park has a number of permanent military hardware fixtures including an Iroquois Helicopter. The walk honors local veterans as well as their friends and family members who served in conflicts throughout history. The Alpharetta Senior Center also offers regularly scheduled events and activities in order to promote social interaction among seniors and the community. The Old Milton County History Museum offers a glimpse into the local history of the area with their exhibits on the civil war.
