Assisted living communities have the luxury of coordinated social interaction and apartment style housing as well as personalized assistance. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include communities must provide residents with three meals per day. Staff must receive education in a variety of areas. These include: community policies and procedures, 10-hour orientation, assisted living philosophy, and applicable regulations. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include medication administration , assistance with self-administration of medications, and verifying. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include resident teaching, provision of care and services to residents whose conditions are chronic and stable, nursing services, and delegation of supervision of self-administered medications.
