The Farmington Station has been one of the best decisions my family and I made for my elderly Dad. He's [Age Removed] and no longer isolated living home alone. The entire staff is kind and made him feel at home the minute he walked in. The meals served in the dining room are top notch with daily lunch and dinner specials as well as the regular menu. The staff checks on him often and escorts him to the dining room and any activities he wants to participate in during the day. The entire facility is clean and feels just like home.

We are very happy with the care our dad is receiving. He commented the other day that the staff feel like family. They all know and I understand him and how to help support his quality of life despite his developing dementia. The food is homemade with fresh vegetables including the daily soup of the day. Although, what he is going through is frustrating for him he is happy there.

I moved from another community to Farmington Station. People are very caring, accommodating and they watch out for you. There is a great variety of foods to satisfy me, and most of all a real feeling of safety.

Farmington Station impressed me right from the start and has not stopped since! I met with [name removed] in August and he shared what the programs were, introduced me to staff members and showed me a variety of apartment floor plans. I had toured and interviewed several other assisted living locations but there was something about Farmington Station that just felt right. Mom moved in mid September and after a couple of weeks of getting adjusted and used to new surrounding she settled right in. She now even has her own favorite spot downstairs in the main area where she can sit and "people-watch" one of her favorite past times!! The food is excellent, activities are varied and abundant, friends are easily made and care is excellent! I could not have done better for Mom!

Farmington station is a very comfortable setting for my 91 year old father. Since moving him into the community, he has appeared happier. The staff are very pleasant and helpful to his needs. He enjoys the food and activities offered to him. However he has the freedom to go to the activities or not.

I was in a tight timeline situation and [name removed] went above and beyond to get my mom in a safe environment immediately. He even gave us a fully furnished room until we are able to get my moms stuff relocated. He was very thorough going over paperwork every step of the way with no hidden information on what is offered and what it costs. I feel this place is genuine in wanting to provide the best care and environment possible for our loved ones and the entire staff has been wonderful in our transition to my moms new home.

Farmington Station has really done a good job and been very responsive whenever my mother or her children have needed anything. We wish there was a similar quality facility down by my brothers in Madison CT and we haven't found anything that comes close to Farmington Station.

It has been a good experience so far
If I could rate at a zero, I would. I would never recommend this facility to anyone. They either don't do assessments correctly or they accept 2 person assist residents that they're not equipped to care for. Either way, they advertise that they accept 2 person assists and they shouldn't. My loved one isn't mobile, they knew this. Her very first day here she was left in bed until housekeeping came into her room at 10am the next day. No one checked on her and she knew it, she was just waiting for someone to come into her room so that she could tell them. When the housekeeper came in, she was so upset and made it known. She had a slight cough when she moved in. They were aware of it. She'd been seen and tested negative for Covid and they said it was ok to move her in. After this incident, conveniently, they were concerned about her cough and wanted her to be assessed in the ER. Ultimately, she was sent to another facility for PT. This facility told us she could come back after completing PT. She did PT for a month and improved SO much. The PT facility cleared her to come back to Farmington Station and when the time came, they said she couldn't come back! She was better than before, PT was an incredible help and her strength was better than ever. But they said no to her coming back. Basically, they didn't want to deal with her care needs. We were literally left stranded. I just wish they had been honest from the beginning and not accepted her if they couldn't provide her care needs. Other facilities were and that was ok with us. But they did an assessment before she moved in and cleared her to move in, even knew about the cough. Why? We definitely feel like this place is run like a business and residents are just numbers. This whole experience caused so much emotional stress for her and was just unnecessary. And it broke her trust in us. I could go on and on about the way this whole thing was handled and the damage it caused. Thankfully, she's in a much better place now and doing so well. But I want others to know this, I don't want this to happen to another family.
We chose Farmington Station mainly because it was the most convenient location for our family. The relationship between the hospital and this facility also seemed to be really good. Overall it has been a positive experience and I would recommend them to others.

Response from Farmington Station, A Senior Living Residence
July 8, 2022We're thankful for your kind words! We're so glad that you recognize our valuable partnerships within the Farmington community to make for a seamless transition. We look forward to seeing your loved one continue to thrive here!
Everything worked out overall for my loved one's respite stay. We did have a glitch at the end. They had lost one of her hearing aids. About a week later they found it, but it was broken. I'm not sure what happened there, but we had to send it off to the factory to get it fixed. I think some of her clothes were left there. I had asked them not to to do her laundry, but they did it anyway. When I got there to pack her up, she was in the front hall listening to music with the group. I packed everything and found what I thought was the other hearing aid. I was assuming she had the other one in her ear. But when I went to get her, she said she couldn't hear me. I found it strange they had her sitting there listening to music with no hearing aids in. It made me wonder how often that happened. But other than that, things were good. It's a beautiful place, like staying at a hotel. The facility is nicely updated, and they had a nice outdoor space with chairs, tables, and a gas fireplace. The director was very nice. When I need another respite stay, I would definitely go back there. They charge the same as what I would pay for somebody to come and stay at my house to care for her, which I've done in the past and wasn't happy with how that turned out. So it's nice to know that Farmington Station exists. She wasn't upset when she came home. Everything seemed okay. It's just so hard when she doesn't talk or remember.

Response from Farmington Station, A Senior Living Residence
June 29, 2022Gregory, we're so grateful that you took the time to write us a review. We do our best to provide the best possible quality of life for our residents through personalized care, a delicious brain healthy dining program, dynamic activities and more!?
This community was more of assisted care even though it was independent living. The place was more modern and looked nice but it was more for the transition to assisted living. They were nice and followed up a lot of times in the beginning before the tour, but after we toured there was no follow up once we had already went through.
