Assisted living communities administer social opportunities, healthcare, and supervision to individuals around 65 years old. These provisions include supervision of self-administered medications, medication reminders, and observing the resident. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include non-medical services, medication reminders, supervision of self-administered medications, and emergency response systems. Staff members obtain training in a number of subjects. These areas include disaster procedures, abuse, privacy, and resident rights. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include communities must provide three daily meals. Public assistance is available through A Medicaid 1915(c) waiver called the Supported Living Program and a 1915(b) waiver called the Managed Long-Term Services and Supports program. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 3. There must be one toilet for every 1 residents and one bath or shower for every residents. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. The maximum occupancy is 1 residents per room.
