This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. a licensed nutritionist or licensed dietician must review menus on a 4- week cycle for nutritional quality programs must also provide special diets as ordered by a physician or needed by residents There must be one toilet for every 1 residents and one bath or shower for every 1 residents. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include monitoring and management of occasional psychological or psychiatric episodes or fluctuations that require uncomplicated intervention or support, assistance in accessing and coordinating health services, assistance with self-administration of medications, and supervision or occasional assistance with two or more activities of daily living. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include medication administration, assistance with self-administration of medications, and residents’ ability to self-administer must be reviewed at least quarterly by a licensed health professionall. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to ensure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as risk factor management needs, evaluation by a health care practitioner is required and changes must be made to the resident’s service plan if there is an assessment score change in any way, the assessment must be reviewed every 6 months, and a comprehensive mental and physical assessment. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include meals must be of sufficient quantity and quality to meet daily nutritional needs, meals must be palatable, programs must provide three meals a day and snacks, and meals must be properly prepared. Staff must receive training in a variety of areas. These include: Managers of programs licensed for five or more residents must complete 20 hours of Department-approved continuing education every 2 years, health and psychosocial needs, fire and life safety, and their individual job requirements.
