Morningside House at Satyr Hill is an assisted living community located in Parkville, Maryland in Baltimore County and home to just over 30,000 people. My review of Morningside House At Satyr Hill

Our family had a virtual tour with Morningside and we loved it, it was in our top two choices. The only reason we were turned away from here is that they did not have a kitchen area and the other community that was in the running did have one. Besides that though we loved the tour.

Overall Pleased

I was pleased with the care and communication from the staff. I never received money back from the community since my loved one wasn't there that long. I have called and emailed with no response of where my refund is. The nurses were good at calling and keeping me updated on my loved one's condition.

I truly have been struck by how friendly everyone is there!

When we are able to go and visit the cleanliness of the community is great, and all of the staff members are friendly. Before covid they offered a good amount of activities for the residents, and when it comes to the care services our loved one has looked better than she has in years

MORNINGSIDE can do better

Since we installed the camera inMoms room I have noticed the hard work, dedication and compassion [name removed] has shown my Mother. I also have noticed most of your staff who just come into Moms room and put food, drinks, etc. on her bed table and leave. I have asked [name removed] to please serve some soft foods and soups for [name removed]......she has very few teeth. I hope this letter brings our family some hope that Mom can feel better.......afterAll she will be CELEBRATING her 100th BIRTHDAY on [date removed]!!! If I am allowed to help in anyway concerning Moms’ care, please don’t hesitate to call on me! Please let [name removed] know, she is doing an excellent job and others could learn from her ruff and gruff techniques! She manages to keep the residents clean, gets them to eat and drink and if time permits, A HUG OR TWO TO START THE DAY!!!!????

Perfect Place

This community is a great place. This community is a little more expensive than what we could afford, but it was good. The food was great, and my loved one enjoyed it. The activities included: bingo, tea, making of necklaces and bracelets, trips to restaurants, and music. My loved one enjoyed all the activities.

First most of the understaffed aides that work with your loved ones are for the most part caring and compassionate when they have time Notice the understaff part They have to constantly have leave a unit and go to another unit to help out leaving that unit with one aide and that was before the covid19 Since being put on lockdown things have gotten worse It seems everytime u try and get a video call with ur loved one it is either not working or u are only allowed every 3 days Now the new rule made by the morningside community is only 2 total video calls a week this is very disturbing and frustrating Dont get me to lying about who the community is made up of Phone calls U have to make multiple calls before u can talk to your loved one This has been going on for weeks There has been instances when i have called and after being transfered residents have answered I guess if ur understaffed and dicombobulated u need extra help LOL NOT I

Facility nice overall - staff could use some overhaul - 1 elevator permanently broken

Cleanliness good. Front office/front desk very good. Physical/occupational therapists excellent. As with any facility, the staff are hit or miss. Some are good, caring people. Others are lazy, rude, paycheck-collectors that don't give a rat's posterior about anything or anyone other than themselves. I don't know about the staff int he main areas (non-memory), but in the 3rd floor memory unit, 75% of the staff seemed to be very indifferent about everything. Two elevators; one has been broken for the entire 3 months my aunt was there (she recently passed from her stage 4 cancer). There is supposedly a large bathing room with a jaczuzzi bath, but it has apparently been broken for months or years. Most of the staff didn't even know it existed or where it was. She was in the memory unit due to chronically removing her clothing. But her mind was still 90% there. She claimed that the food served int he memory unit was VERY different from the food in the main dining room. During the day and evening, front desk was staffed. Late at night, like 10-11pm, sometimes upon returning from the ER, we would have to ring the bell and pound on the door for 10-15 minutes to get into the building. Cost was cheaper than some assisted living facilities, more than others. Middle of the road.

I would like to know the owner of this facility. So sad I have my my mom in their care. I have never seen so such miscommunication in a facility. Also the aides need to be Reminded the residents are paying a lot of money for staying there which is paying their salaries. It deeply saddens me that my only wish to win the lottery to get my home.
