These provisions include opening the container and removing a prescribed amount of medication, unlicensed staff may assist residents with self-administration, and placing an oral dosage in the resident’s hand. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to guarantee their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as community must document any substantial changes in a resident’s status which may necessitate relocation to a more specialized community , medical examination report, communities must document such assessment, and monthly nursing assessment of resident as ordered by physician . Staff members obtain education in a variety of subjects. These areas include emergency evacuation, 26 hours of training plus a competency test, universal precautions, and 12 hours of continuing education every 2 years on topics related to assisted living. There must be one toilet for every 1 residents and one bath or shower for every 1 residents. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 1. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day.
