First thing I noticed on the day I toured, was all staff seemed to know the names of every resident they came in contact with. They work to have an idea of the resident's personality and meet them where they are. My brother-in-law has organic brain syndrome and can be a bit much at times. They are so wonderful with him. They really take the time to get to know who he is and treat him with compassion, and dignity. This is truly the first time in his life he has felt part of anything, especially a community of people. They have monthly family dinner nights with live music. They do an amazing job with that. The food is very good. My brother-in-law gained 10 lbs in 3 weeks. Mostly because it's the first time in his life everything he eats isn't controlled by someone else. The facility is very clean. I know what I'm talking about because before looking for a place for my brother-in-law or even knowing I'd even need to, I was a nurse and have been in most ALF's and nursing homes in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties. They are excellent at keeping you informed. An example is, today I received an email stating they have 3 residents with confirmed Covid. The residents are quarantined in their rooms, and the facility has canceled family night this week. They also have PT on site, so if a resident needs PT, they don't need to go anywhere. I truly have nothing negative to say.... Read more

I lived at Watermark twice. The director of nursing called my pain management doctor and canceled my doctor's appointment without discussing her intentions, or reasoning. The result of her actions would have left me without medication with a detached leg from my pelvis. IT WAS Debilitating pain I lived with hour after hour and without my medication the pain brought me to my knees. I called Ombudsman and was quickly told this action was against the law. Ombudsman called Watermark and my appointment with pain management was reinstated. My pain management was very irritated at the time and made it clear to me this action was without concern for me. Then HR and the director of nursing came to my room and blasted me without a care about my feelings, or concerns or solutions for my resolution to the pain. I was ridiculed for at least 30 minutes. They did not have another doctor for me to see and it was clear they just wanted to control me. I have moved out of Watermark.

We really love it here and my mom is happy which is all that matter. They started family nights and we went to the first one last month so that was really nice. The executive director was there waiting on tables and they had entertainment come in so it was really fun for us. They do these monthly and have just recently started them back up since covid. I would definitely recommend The Watermark at Vistawilla to others.

A Place for Mom has scored The Watermark At Vistawilla 8.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
