Independent Living

An Independent Living Community provides residents the chance to continue to live an independent lifestyle while making sure their fundamental needs are met. Daily needs such as housekeeping and the scheduling of social activities are taken care of, which provides occupants more opportunities to live their lives as they see fit. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, surrounded by others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Residents’ quarters consist of a private living space with their own kitchen. The independence of apartment life is still enjoyed, offering an opportunity to entertain guests and visitors in a private and personal setting. While policies vary between locations, numerous residences allow cats and dogs as well. If medical or nursing assistance is desired, residents may always enlist the services of independent caregivers. There are a number of benefits and costs to balance while choosing an independent living community. It is important to determine if these services are covered in your plan: private phone, housekeeping, initial assessment fee, cable TV, wellness program, internet access, move-in fee, and parking. The benefits and amenities that pertain to independent living include beauty salon & barber shop, game/TV room, transportation, laundry service, restaurant-style dining hall, private rental hall, concierge services, and community activities.
