Independent Living

If you or your loved one desire the peace of mind of having your housekeeping taken care of while living your life at your own pace, you might want to consider independent living. Food preparation, leisure activities and housekeeping responsibilities are taken care of while you are unrestricted to use your time as you wish. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and backgrounds. Typically comprised of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and more time can be spent with them with the basic maintenance of daily tasks out of the way. While policies differ between communities, many residences allow cats and dogs as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with private care providers if desired. There are a number of advantages and expenditures to keep in mind while determining an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these services are covered in the plan: cable TV, field trips, private phone, laundry, transportation, parking, initial assessment fee, and utilities.
