The Peaks is generally a nice place, but has struggled the past year with keeping directors and qualified staff. The memory care building is pleasant: clean, open, bright, and easy to navigate. There are two nice courtyards. The food is usually good. Though the current director and staff are all very nice and caring with the residents, you don’t get the impression they have any particular credentials or extensive training in dementia/Alzheimer’s. There is no nurse in memory care. There is not much stimulation; or one-on-one engagement. The residents sit in front of TVs a lot of the time. With any facility, I suggest visiting as often as you can to be your loved one's advocate and make sure they're getting proper care and attention. Help keep them company and provide stimulation—walks, puzzles, or just conversation. This facility is not set up for end-of-life care if there are higher needs. Keep in mind you may need to move your family member again during an already difficult time.... Read more

The staff members at The Peaks are very friendly and they are attentive to our loved one. They do their best to get him involved. We have had some items however come up missing from our loved noes room.

Mom had a lot of theft issues initially. People would come in and take things and no one seemed to know what happened which was disturbing. The quality of food and nutritional value is also a concern that we have. There are some outstanding employees who work here primarily [name removed], she is my best contact and resource and is very helpful. I cannot say enough good things about her, she is phenomenal. Both mom and I really like her. Overall there is certainly room for some improvements that they could make.

The Peaks was a really nice looking community. The ratio was 10 residents per 1 staff member. They had a lot more residents in the community. I felt there was not enough attention by the staff towards the residents.

April 14, 2022Thank you for taking the time to submit feedback on our community. We strive to provide high-quality care for each of our residents. A crucial part in this process is not only hiring top-tier candidates, but also requiring our care associates to complete on going trainings and certifications to ensure we are always pushing the envelope when it comes to the premier care we provide. If you could call me at your earliest convenience, I would love to talk more with you about your experience. Thanks, Jessie Wiens, Regional Manager 832-381-6421.
I used to see staff people in their "staff" room not wearing masks. I asked the director about it and she said because they had been vaccinated, she didn't require them to wear masks in staff only areas. This despite the county having an indoor mask mandate at the time. Not surprising they had a 2 1/2 month long covid outbreak. Beware the "care conference". They only do it so they can raise your rates. And then they don't provide information on what services they are providing to merit the raise. The nursing director doesn't seem to know the first thing about medical care and the elderly. When I referred to a UTI, she didn't know what I was talking about nor that it can cause sudden confusion in the elderly. The first week he lived there, he got terrible diarrhea. No one ever told me. He was so dehydrated, I had to take him to the ER to be put on an IV. They don't respond to either phone calls or emails.

April 14, 2022Hello. Please know we are taking your comments very seriously. Our community is dedicated to providing the best care possible for all of our residents, and an important part of that mission is the qualified and certified associates we hire. I would appreciate the opportunity to talk through your concerns with you so I can better understand your experience. Please give me a call at your earliest convenience. Thank you, Jessie Wiens 832-381-6421
My father was there for 5 months in assisted living and as soon as they saw signs of his dementia worsening they started finding issues with him but didn't tell me. They called for care conference and gave me the choice of finding 24 hour care, take him home or put him in their sister facility for memory care in Fort Collins. As they put it were not giving you 30 days notice were trying to help you. Not true, they wanted him out asap becuase they know due to Covid NO ONE can find 24 hour care. The next day when I was getting him ready to go up to Fort Collins the Executive Director says you will be packing up his room this weekend, right? I told her no not really at the top of my list right now. Heartless and all about money and what's best for them.

This is a good place to live. The staff know all the residents by name and knows things about each one as well. They try and make sure the residents fell like it is home. Some of the activities they have done is an outing to see a show, a birthday party for my loved one, bowling, movies, exercise class, and more for the residents to choose from.

We chose The Peaks because of the value for the money, the close location, and the fact that it is a smaller community. Their emphasis is on the quality of care, and that has held true. The building itself is shiny and new. You get a good feeling when you walk in. The staff have been lovely. Mom is very happy with them. I would recommend to others who are looking.

I would tell others that I don't know much because of the pandemic. The communication with the staff isn't good. It started out good though. The monthly family support zoom call is great. This allows all the families to come together and compare notes and support each other.

I chose The Peaks because of the size of the facility, it is on the smaller side and also they specialized in assisted living as well as memory care which is something we needed. They are great with communication, easy to get a hold of and reach out whenever needed. I think that the staff members no matter what the role have demonstrated consistent deep level of care and personalization. They really get to know their residents and are supportive of them. I would recommend them to others looking.

Everyone at the Peaks treats the residents like family. Our dad actually started smiling again after he moved to the Peaks. The staff are incredible the way they interact with all the residents.

Most of the reviews are from 2017. A great deal has changed at The Peaks since 2017! My mother was one of the first people to move into The Peaks in October 2016. She passed away in February 2019 after 2.5 years. My mother was loved by the caregiving staff and the vast majority of the staff were excellent, but they were understaffed continually...especially the 2 - 10 PM shift. The facility and activities went downhill during those times. I highly recommended The Peaks for a while, no longer. When my mother died at The Peaks, the administrators never even sent a sympathy card, no service was requested, and no one told residents. Residents, wait staff, and caregivers did stop by when I was cleaning out her room--but no administrators. Really think hard and long before believing what the salespeople tell you!

It may sound silly to mention but an actual person actually answered my initial phone call! My first impression was a very good one! ... AND the Peaks is pet friendly! It was critical for Mom to have her puppy! The staff has been welcoming, kind, patient, caring & responsive to my mom's specific needs. Mom's vision is severely impaired because of macular degeneration so she has needed additional help learning her way around the facility. Mealtime has become difficult for her, so the wait staff will read the menu helping her to select what she'd like to eat. All the staff, including the administrative staff, participates at meal time working as wait staff & bussers...quite the team! Mom has learned with help from the staff where to walk her puppy. The outdoors area is lovely with a well lite walking area including a fenced area for pets & patio. Mom's settling into her apartment .... We know she's safe & is being cared for - almost as well as we do. I would recommend this place.

We chose The Peaks at Old Laramie Trail “Generations” Memory Care Center because they train staff and caregivers in the work of cutting edge gerontologist [name removed]. The staff and caregivers exceeded our expectations—not only are they skilled, but they are so kind and compassionate, are pro-active in thinking of things that might help, take time out to have conversations with residents and family, and help facilitate friendships between residents, all of which is indispensable in forming the bonds that led Dad to call it “the village where I live.” Dad was there for 8 months and just died. We have no family in the area; The Peaks Generations caregivers became like family for him and were with him at the end. We are grateful that he was able to experience both living and dying there.

Very helpful "sales lady" She gave us a full rundown of costs to expect. Very nice place, a little smaller; more intimate. Will do two person transfers and work very hard to keep a person there rather than sending to skilled nursing. Do not have skilled nursing there. Does not take Medicaid. Supply own furniture. Smallest room is only slightly smaller than [Removed] last place. For high level of care, again, about 6,000.00 per month.

I picked the community because they are new and the people were forth coming with my questions. She is doing well but I would like more updates about my mom. They do respond to my emails if I ask anything. She is participating in some activities and she is eating very good. Her room is comfortable enough for her.

The facility is very clean and the staff are sure to cater to my loved one's needs and requests. The staff and residents are very nice. One problem that my loved one did run into, however, is the fact that the staff are a bit unorganized and do not handle things systematically.
