Inhabitants may be kept under supervision and assessment. Under certain circumstances, communities may offer hospice, nursing care, or dementia care. The Department of Human Services licenses certifies this type of community. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to make sure their needs are going to be met. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include proper training of direct care workers to handle and administer medications, reminding a resident to maintain his/her medication schedule in accordance with the prescription, and medication supervision and administration. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include supervised personal care, medication management, guidance, and being aware of a resident’s general whereabouts. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 21.
