An assisted living community is a residential living community which administers care, aid, and support to independent persons who are not in need of skilled nursing care. Assisted living communities frequently offer aid with appointments and transit, aid with the activities of daily life, and opportunities for recreational activity. In some situations, communities may offer hospice, “aging in place”, or skilled nursing. In Pennsylvania, the annual median cost for an assisted living community is around $40,020 . These include activities and socialization, assistance with unanticipated ADLs for a defined recovery period, nutritious meals and snacks, and monitoring and emergency response. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include must provide three meals a day and meals must meet recommended dietary allowances established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
