Assisted living communities usually offer supervision of care, outings for recreational activity, and support with daily activities. Oregon Department of Human Services, Office of Licensing and Regulatory Oversight certifies this type of community. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include assist psychosocial wellbeing, health services, transportation services, and maximize physical functioning. There must be one toilet for every 1 residents and one bath or shower for every 1 residents. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 6. The maximum occupancy is 1 residents per room. Public assistance is available through Medicaid Aged and Disabled 1915(c) Waiver program. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to make sure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as physical health exam, mental health evaluation, ADLs test, and risk indicator assessment. Staff are required to obtain training in a number of areas. These areas include residents’ rights, the values of community-based care, fire safety, and emergency procedures.
