Assisted living communities offer organized living communities and aid to persons who require support with things such as mobility or taking medication. Services provided often involve aid with ADLs. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to guarantee their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as A comprehensive written assessment that that describes prescribed treatments and medications that must be provided to the community prior to admission, service plan takes into account the preferences and competency of the resident, The home must complete a service plan in cooperation with each resident and/or their representative, and service plan identifies the individual’s need for activities. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include proper training of direct care workers to handle and administer medications, reminding a resident to maintain his/her medication schedule in accordance with the prescription, and medication supervision and administration. Public assistance is available through Medicaid State Plan. Staff are required to obtain training in a variety of fields. These areas include containment of infectious disease, reporting requirements and documentation, standard precautions, and residents rights and responsibilities. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include communities must provide medical nutrition therapy if prescribed by a licensed health care professional, three daily meals and snacks must be provided, and Food must be prepared in accordance with the recommended daily dietary allowances of the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academy of Sciences National Research Council. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include guidance, medication management, supporting a resident’s personal and social needs, and reminding resident of important activities to be carried out. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 21.
