Assisted living communities administer personal care, oversight, and social interaction to individuals around 65 years of age or older. Services offered often include support with activities of daily living. Occupants may be kept under monitoring and assessment. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include communities must meet daily dietary requirements and requests, communities must provide three meals a day, meals must provide a balanced distribution of the daily nutritional requirements, and communities must consider residents’ reasonable religious preferences. communities must consider residents’ personal preference meals may temporarily be delivered to the resident’s room. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include identifying responses to actual or potential health conditions, activities and programs appropriate to residents’ abilities and interests, a nursing diagnosis, and scheduled transportation for community-based activities. These provisions include resident must be observed for effects of medications and undesirable effects must be documented and the resident’s physician notified, preparation of prescribed medications, and Medications may be administered under physician’s order by licensed nursing personnel or qualified medication aides.
