Assisted living communities provide regular social interaction and apartment style housing as well as personalized assistance. Assisted living communities frequently provide care supervision, outings for organized activity, and aid with the activities of daily life. Under certain circumstances, communities may offer hospice, continuing care, or respite. In Indiana, the annual median cost for an assisted living community is around 49,200. These provisions include distribution of prescribed medications, preparation of prescribed medications, and Medications may be administered under physician’s order by licensed nursing personnel or qualified medication aides. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to ensure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as a negotiated risk plan will be established, A comprehensive assessment, evaluation must be updated at least semi-annually or when a significant change in condition occurs, and community will identify scope of care based on evaluation. Staff members receive education in a variety of fields. These include: records, emergency procedures, instructions on the needs of the specialized populations served in the community, and resident’s rights. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include executing a minor regimen based upon a nursing diagnosis or as prescribed by a physician, physician’s assistant, chiropractor, dentist, optometrist, podiatrist, or nurse practitioner, a nursing diagnosis, scheduled transportation for community-based activities, and comprehensive nursing care.
