Independent Living

Independent Living Communities provide individuals with a nice equilibrium between an opportunity to live an independent lifestyle and not having to concern themselves with the basic tasks of housekeeping and responsibilities. Basic tasks such as meal planning and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and social activities is maintained, allowing residents an opportunity to use their time as they wish, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, surrounded by others of similar ages and interests. Within the individual units, residents have access to their own private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a partner if they choose. While policies vary between communities, a number of residences allow pets as well. If medical or nursing assistance is desired, residents may always utilize the services of independent health care professionals. There are a number of expenses and benefits to consider while deciding on an independent living community. It is important to learn if these services are included in the service plan: internet access, Waiting list deposit, housekeeping, cable TV, meals, laundry, initial assessment fee, and move-in fee. The luxuries that pertain to independent living include game/TV room, beauty salon & barber shop, security guards, restaurant-style dining hall, transportation, concierge services, fitness center & swimming pool, and private rental hall.
