Almost three years ago, after much trepidation, my siblings and I decided it was time to place my mom in an Assisted Living setting. As soon as we visited and felt the charm and grandeur of Van Dyk Park Place, we knew we found mom’s new home. From the start, the staff has been warm and caring, and although it is not her home of 60 years, it is an environment where we feel mom is well cared for and most importantly, she is safe. The staff is very professional, beginning with [name removed], in the Business Office, who especially has helped me unravel the parts of her care that I enjoy the least, the financial puzzles. [name removed] works with each family to ease this burden. The nursing department is highly knowledgeable and the caregivers work very hard. During the challenges of Covid, it was very evident that a safe and healthy environment was consistently maintained. Although it has been difficult for the residents, I am grateful for the manner in which my mom has been cared for.
Transitioning a loved one to a full time care facility is not an easy decision for any family, but the staff at Van Dyk Park Place helped ensure we made the right choice. Our mom has advanced Alzheimer's, and has lived in the Memory Care section at Park Place for almost a year. The staff is attentive, nurturing, and communicative. We have full confidence that our mom is cared for and part of a loving community in a safe environment. This is exemplified by the staff's kind demeanor when interacting with her or when she hugs them or holds their hand at the end of a visit with us. There are opportunities for her to engage with other residents whether it's through games, crafts, or community events. Additionally, staff members are in frequent communication with us regarding her health and well-being. Our mom's happiness and safety remain our biggest priorities; Van Dyk leaves no doubt that both of these needs are met. Thank you for showing the kindness, respect, and love she deserves.
I moved my 91 yr. old. Uncle to the Van Dyk a year ago. He was living on his own until a fall, and with spinal stenosis, a transition to a wheel chair. The staff is excellent - everyone is wonderful and caring. They've assisted in so many areas. The facility is clean. I would highly recommend the Van Dyk to other families.
When my sister and I visited assisted living facilities in the Bergen County area for our Mother our choice was Van Dyk Park Place in Hawthorne NJ. It was by far the best assisted living facility with beautiful interiors and apartments. The warmth, professionalism and caring of all the management and employees is superior. I highly recommend this senior living facility. I have to say our Mom was hesitant about going to senior assisted living but after a week there she loved living at Van Dyk. That in itself speaks volumes. We are so happy in our choice for our Mom!
After thorough research of assisted living facilities, both my parents became residents of Van Dyk Park Place earlier this year. Not only is the facility beautiful and welcoming, the staff truly embraces the 'family' perspective. We are grateful for the personalized care, Covid protocols, and all Van Dyk regularly does to keep my parents safe and have them feel at home. My family made the right decision at the right time, and we thank Van Dyk for having made my parents' transition to assisted living so seamless. We highly recommend Van Dyk Park Place without reservation.
My review is based on the contact I have had with [name removed] who works in the finance dept. She has been a tremendous asset to our family. She is amazing when it comes to billing questions that I have. She has also been very instrumental in getting me in touch with the right people/department when I have other issues and do not know who to speak with. The fact that I can call her directly and she picks up the phone is a tremendous time saver. I can always count on [name removed] because I know she will always point me in the right direction and will even call me back if she needs to look further into an issue. She has the patience of a saint. She is a true gem!
My aunt has lived at Van Dyk for over six years. I couldn't have hoped to find her a better home. The environment is spotless and cheery. The staff's positive energy is boundless. Impeccable attention is given to the physical as well as emotional well-being of residents. They have on-duty nursing and a fantastic support team. Their diligence during COVID-19 has been unbelievably thorough. In addition to monitoring health, they've managed to keep residents engaged with activities to uplift residents' spirits. The kindness shown to residents (and their families) is exceptional. They treat the residents with affection and respect. My aunt is in good hands. Staff is quick to reach out with updates. I consider them trusted family members. My aunt has made wonderful friends at Van Dyk. She currently enjoys life much more than she has in many years. I'm so grateful that she lives in such a happy environment. I definitely recommend Van Dyk as a home for your loved one.
My uncle has been a resident at Van Dyk Park Place since 2015. The building is quaint and has the look of a family residence. It is clean and has no odors. The nursing staff go the extra mile to ensure that my uncle stays healthy and are quick to respond to any issues that may arise. As indicated the cleaning and facility staff work hard to keep the facility clean and fresh. The meals I had there were delicious, and my uncle is very satisfied with the food and the beautiful dining room. The administrative staff (Administration/Billing, etc.) are always responsive to my questions. The Executive Director provides periodic newsletters to keep us informed of what is happening at Van Dyk. I would like express kudos to the director and staff on how they managed under the Covid-19 crisis. They worked hard to keep the residents and staff safe from the virus. In the end that is what makes Van Dyk so special. They keep our family members safe with a loving touch.
Our review is based upon multiple years our family member lives at Park Park. The quality of care; attention to the resident's both emotional, spiritual and physical well being has not lessened even during now 2 years of COVID restrictions. Our family has experienced the locked down issues involving senior residence. But, through exceptional professionalism and attention to the resident, Van Dyk Park Place staff has made the past two years a healthy and under the circumstance, amiable and a good-natured environment. The Van Dyk Park Place staff includes the; Nurses Aids Maintenance Reception Activities and Billing departments. All these members went above and beyond to provide a healthy, caring and spiritual environment to our family member.
Van Dyk Park Place is an excellent facility. It's a family owned business that treats the residents as family. If you are interested in an organization that provides excellent care you can stop looking. Van Dyk Park Place will satisfy your needs. The staff is excellent. They have excellent "attention to detail". This is a "hot button" of mine and they satisfy it all the time. When I say "staff member", I mean everyone. It includes those who provide daily care, nurses, chefs and the facility director and his management team. I strongly encourage you to make an appointment and see the place. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I wish you the best in 2022. May the best come to you and your loved ones always.
Van Dyk Park Place has been the best experience for my mom , she is very happy and content being a residence of such a great place the care and courteous staff is top notch she is having the best experience in her elder years living there . Thank you to all at Van Dyk Park Place for making everything feel like home for her .
My family and I couldn’t be happier with Van Dyk Our mom will be turning 100 years old in January, 2022! About six months ago, we knew our mom started to need more assistance. She had been living on her own, as a widow , for the past 38 years ! She was very set in her ways and was not in favor of going to Van Dyk or any other place .. ! After looking at several places, we came across Van Dyk, Park Place! Not only was the facility far more superior than others we had looked at, but the staff was amazing! When you enter the building you feel right at home ! [Name removed], helped us through the process and was more than patient and understanding! She convinced my mom to do a trial, before making a decision! The rest is history, my mom has been there since September and goes to every activity the facility offers! She is busy and stimulated all day long from 8:30 in the morning until 830 at night! She has made friends and is very happy and content! We are so grateful!
My Mom is special to me which is why I wanted a place that reminded her of home. The entire staff are dedicated and caring employees. My Mom is well known in this friendly community. Its smaller than most which makes it feel more like a home atmosphere. The residents are friendly and enjoy each others company. A special note to the senior team who somehow managed to keep residents and staff safe during covid. The nursing staff are very professional and caring. At night I can relax knowing that my Mom is safe and happy.
My Mom has lived in Van Dyk Park Place (VDPP) since 2016, first assisted living, then Reflections, the memory care unit. Then we had to move and couldn't visit as frequently. We left Mom in VDPP because it had become her home and we were confident in her care. Mom has always received safe, respectful, even loving treatment. The activities and community she has have kept her engaged, even as her memory declined.. Since COVID hit, the safety protocols VDPP instituted are terrific. I am sure she is as safe as possible during this scary time. The staff know my mom as well as I do, anticipating her needs. They help make long distance caring for Mom possible. They helped her Skype with me when COVID kept me from visiting. They communicate her needs and condition clearly. And now, as Mom nears the end of her life, VDPP is helping my mom stay peaceful and comfortable, and helping me and my family navigate the difficult days ahead. I am so glad I found Van Dyk Park Place.
The hardest experience of my life is watching my mom decline due to Alzheimer’s while being unable change it. Van Dyk Park Place was the first place, after visiting so many, that I felt seen and understood as a person who desperately wants only the best for my mom despite her growing needs. It is life changing to know that when I go to bed each night, I have complete confidence that the most precious person to me will have the best care and the most loving staff doing everything they can to bring her joy. I am beyond grateful to have found Van Dyk Park Place and would highly recommend it to others families.
VDPP is different from most other Assisted Living Facilities, it's a family-owned business with the look, feel and elegance of a "Cape May NJ" Bed & Breakfast Inn! The Building and Grounds appeal are exceptional. The Staff takes great pride in providing a fine dining experience along with an active entertainment and activity schedule. Van Dyk's has met and exceeded the challenges of the Covid epidemic by maintaining stringent health standards. As the son of a loved one there, I've had the peace of mind that Mom has received great care. The Newsletter that's provided to Residents and Family, is always current, thoughtful and informative. I've come to know many of the Staff members personally, they've been most helpful and have showered my Mom with kindness! VDPP has provided my Mom the closest feeling to being at home!?
We have experienced love and security at this community, without a doubt. There is a strong drive in them to establish friendship for my mother. The communication between staff and family is very immediate and efficient. Also, they always use positive verbiage when communicating. And they provide me with feedback often, which is very nice. They're all amazing. I think they can step up the food a little bit. It seems mediocre/standard, but my mother still really enjoys them meals she's getting. They do have activities, although they're somewhat limited due to Covid. I think they absolutely need to include activities with more physicality - walking clubs, things of that nature, would be nice to see there.
Overall it is a great fit for my mom. The medication management is important in my mom's health and safety. The meals, activities, and happy staff make for a very welcoming environment. Both my mom and our family are very pleased we choose Van Dyk as her new home.
Our mom has been a resident of Van Dyk Park Place for the past two years and she, and we couldn't be happier with the care she receives. She is a wheelchair user, has incontinence and takes numerous daily medications. We therefore did a lot of research about different facilities before selecting Van Dyk Park Place, and it was absolutely the right choice for us. The medical staff is excellent, and they always have a nurse on duty. They and the caregivers actively keep an eye out for the residents' health, which is especially critical during the current pandemic. In terms of COVID-19, Van Dyk has been very very proactive with their safety procedures and precautions. For the last few months no visitors have been allowed, but you can schedule a socially distanced, 45 minute outside visit between 10 -12 and 1-3 pm. Once the pandemic is over Van Dyk will no doubt continue to multiple daily activities for the residents which they had beforehand. Also residents will then be able to eat in the dining room, which is excellent from a social perspective. The food can be bland and uninspired, but I believe they have gotten a new head chef. My mom's caregivers have been really good, and make her feel comfortable and appreciated. She always tell us "If I have to be anywhere, this is a great place." On a personal note, we also chose VD because it's within a 20 minute drive of me and my siblings. Visiting and calling your resident on a regular basis helps you to establish important relationships with the staff, and also helps you loved one have a more fulfilling life experience. Good luck with your search!
