My parents have been members of the Atria Woodlands community for almost 3.5 years, and our family could not ask for better partners in navigating their care. Mom is in the Life Guidance or Memory Care unit. Dad is in the Independent Living Building but has private aides who assist him. My parents have been married for 68 years, and separating them was one of the hardest things our family had to do. The aides, staff and administrators helped us to handle this with great patience and compassion. They celebrated with us as our parents found their new norm and have gone out of their way to help our parents and our family maintain what has always been a close, loving connection. The coronavirus pandemic is enough to strike fear into the hearts of any family who has a loved one in a care facility. Again, the constant communication that the Atria Woodlands leadership team provides and the extra effort that staff makes to set up FaceTime calls and Zoom conferences has made a bad situation immeasurably easier to deal with. My family and I cannot day enough good things about the Atria Woodlands staff and leadership. They are the gold standard in terms of providing a safe, friendly, stimulating environment for their residents.Reviewed on SeniorAdvisor.com
My mother is in the memory care unit at Atria. The initial attention is incredible. It’s as if there is this team of people who are going to provide personalized care for your loved one. Especially in the beginning, I would regularly get updates as to how she was doing, activities, how she ate, etc. However, that does die down over time and, even though I actively visit and take her out, any input I received is now at my prompting. There are number of activities listed on the calendar to attend throughout the day at Atria, however my mother does not have access to many of them due to being on the life guidance floor. She enjoys the food and the staff is always kind and attentive when I am there. For the cost of living at Atria, there are a couple of things that are not included which I find odd that I do not think would cost much and only add to the quality of life. I have to state clearly that the main, if not only, reason my mother is still at Atria is because of the director of her floor, [name removed]. [Name removed] has continued to check in with me about my mother, when visitors come, and her general mood/functioning. [Name removed] is a priceless addition to life guidance. Knowing some one cares so much that she will contact me without prompting or prodding is incredible and allows me to sleep at night knowing my mother is safe and cared for. She will also talk to my mother and bring her with her throughout the building so she can get out a bit and socialize more. [Name removed] 2 days off may be rest for her but it’s the only time of the week I feel as though I have lost a great resource and a connection to my mom when I’m not there.Reviewed on A Place For Mom
My father has lived at the Atria Woodlands for 6 years. In the beginning it was o.k. It has become a place where no one seems to care and the director seems to care even less. The facility has been under lock down in the last week due to some bug, with nothing being done about it other than serving bad meals to the residents three times a day in their rooms. This is a horrible situation without a solution. Be very careful about this place. I have no choice at this point. My father is there and I can't move him. There is no communication with family and the price keeps on going up every year for no good reason. This is a captive audience and they take full advantage of it. What a shame!
