Assisted living facilities administer personal care, supervision, and social events to people who are on average 65 years of age or older. Assisted living facilities often offer opportunities for social activity, aid with transportation and appointments, and supervision of care. Under certain circumstances, facilities may offer respite, skilled nursing care, or Alzheimer's care. Oklahoma maintains a number of stipulations related to this type of facility. Department of Health, Protective Health Services, Long-term Care Services governs this facility type. Staff members obtain training in a number of subjects. These include: cpr, first-aid, and residents' specific needs. This facility has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include staff must be trained in food preparation, must use a licensed dietician to develop diet plan, and must provide three meals a day. There is a maximum occupancy of 2 residents per room. The minimum number of residents for this facility type is 2. There must be one bath or shower for every 4 residents and one toilet for every 4 residents. This facility type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include provide medication administration and observe the swallowing of oral medications. This type of facility is required to offer a number of services. These include assistance with trasnfer, personal care, medication administration, and intermittent nursing care. Public assistance is available through the Medicaid 1915(c) Advantage Program, the Sooner Services Program, and the My Life My Choice Program.
