This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include assistance with self-administration of medications, supervision or occasional assistance with two or more activities of daily living, uncomplicated interventions to manage occasional behaviors that might disrupt or harm the resident or others, and assistance in accessing and coordinating health services. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include meals must be well-balanced, programs must provide three meals a day and snacks, meals must be palatable, and meals must be varied. Staff members receive training in a variety of subjects. These areas include basic food safety, health and psychosocial needs, emergency disaster plans, and the use of service plans. a licensed nutritionist or licensed dietician must review menus on a 4- week cycle for nutritional quality programs must also provide special diets as ordered by a physician or needed by residents This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include medication administration, assistance with self-administration of medications, and residents’ ability to self-administer must be reviewed at least quarterly by a licensed health professionall. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to make sure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as assessed on psychiatric conditions, a comprehensive mental and physical assessment, activities of daily living needs, and treatment requirements.
