I fell in love with Arden Courts Kensington (ACK) the first time I visited it. The appearance on the outside was attractive. I was immediately given brochures and taken on a tour by the Executive Director. An available private room was well-appointed and included a private bathroom. The accessible outside courts have a lovely gazebo.
My wife was recovering from surgery for a broken ankle and using a wheel chair. At ACK, she made rapid progress thanks to superior physical therapy. Now she can walk without assistance. The staff check her blood pressure and dispense medications every day. An MD visits once a week and a Nurse Practitioner is available on some other days. They all do a good job caring for her safety and hygiene and keep her healthy.
My wife is happy. There are lots of daily activities as well as parties on holidays. The food is good, and we tour the facility after breakfast. The staff and residents are delighted to greet her: they love to see her big smile.

Recommending Arden Courts of Kensington
The community did well since everything was clean, my loved one, their room and no odors anywhere. Everyone seemed to be well taken care of. Disappointed that the person who I met when looking at the facility was no longer there after a while. She was a wonderful & caring individual & easy to speak with. I would totally recommend it to others and had no complaints. Thank you for your help in finding this facility.

Arden Courts is a very nice facility, it just was not the right fit for my mom. She is higher functioning and this facility is strictly for memory care which she did not need yet.

Overall a good community
The activities have been pretty good, our loved one is getting therapy and different exercises. However they are not to thrilled about the meals. The quality of the meals in general are not very good or appetizing.

a good place for your loved one
The staff is very friendly and the facility is easy to get around in. They have a nice garden and a nice area to spend time outside. They have had a good covid plan and have done a great job keeping the residence safe and if you call they are quick to return your call, I would recommend this community to others. There is a language barrier with some staff and it can be hard to communicate but we are working on that.

The staff is very caring. They take pride in what they do. I've had a couple of different loved ones there, and I think they really want the best for their residents. I would definitely recommend Arden Courts of Kensington.

Offers competent and comprehensive care
When we were choosing a place during the pandemic, they made efforts to do virtual tours. When we were moving in they arranged for us to use their furniture. She have severe cognitive declines and they gave us ideas like to use a memory box to help her transition easier. They also suggested for her to see a geriatrics psychiatrist while she was making the transition, and she was able to change up her medication. She would call us all the time to give us updated on our loved one. Now we are able to go in and see her.

Arden Courts Of Kensington
We have been very happy with Arden Courts and the executive director. She is very responsive and is always there to take a call.
Every time I have visited, the community has always been very clean and very nice. The staff is great and the last time I visited mother, two of the caregivers came out with her and stayed the whole time with her while I visited and were very pleasant and helpful during our visit. They are always very responsive to our requests. Mother has several care needs and they have been doing an incredible job accommodating for those needs and ensuring she is healthy.
They do have a lot of very good activities like music, people singing, and instrument playing. My mother participates in the on-community events and the activities director is very good and clearly tries the best she can with those who are a little less mobile.

Memory Care at its finest
Arden Court Memory Care was a precious gift at a difficult time in our lives. My stepmother, for whom I have been caretaker for the better part of 20 years, was in Arden Court at Kensington for the last 18 months of her life. She had a very rare, complicated, form of Alzheimers that led to her not only losing her memory but her eyesight and other physical faculties as well. She was a very tough case.
Under the superb leadership of Executive Director, [name removed], the staff at Arden Court Memory Care was flawless with her every single day. They were, without fail, kind, gentle, attentive, positive, and encouraging of every aspect of her life even as it became more and more diminished.
The facility is spotless and welcoming. The food is nutritious, there are plenty of activities in which the residents participate. When my stepmother could no longer communicate meaningful or engage, I would come for a visit and her nails had been beautifully painted, her hair combed, her room refreshed, and music was playing gently in the background. It all helped me and her feel at peace with what was an extremely difficult circumstance.
To say that we are grateful to Arden Court for their care would is an understatement. As difficult a journey as this was for my stepmother and for our family, I felt that she - and we - were loved, valued and cared for in all ways humanly possible.

Best Memory Care in DC Area
Are you about to move your dementia relative to assisted living, but you don't know how you're going to do it? Arden Courts of Kensington is the answer. My mother has lived at ACK for almost three years now, and she is thriving, even with dementia. The staff knew just how to transition her the day I brought her in, and they've grown into being just like family. I'm convinced the best course is ACK, because it is dedicated to memory care. ACK caretakers are indeed caring and are aware of the needs and preferences of each individual resident. They are all quick with a smile and great sense of humor that puts everyone at ease. The managers and director are always around and know what's going on. The physical spaces are tailored perfectly for dementia sufferers, with everything on one floor (please avoid elevators for dementia sufferers!), and freedom to roam inside and outside in a secure but free-feeling grounds and facility. The activities program is superb, with art & music therapy, entertainment, and field trips for those who are able to participate. The monthly bill is less than other top rated homes; and you get a single bill that includes all the amenities, supplies, and on-site medical care. This all-in-one billing helps you budget, with no surprises about costs. Find comfort at ACK for you and your relative with dementia.

More suited for Alzheimer care
This was a great community it just was not the right fit for us at this time. The staff is really friendly and they seem to have really good Alzheimer care. We liked the community it just wasn’t what we were looking for. We would recommend this community to anyone.
