What separates one place from another is the people that you interact with there. The folks at Refreshing Springs were very attentive to my dad's need and to my needs and requirements. The ratio of caregivers to residents is more than what you can get other places. If the state required 2 caregivers for every 5 residents, Refresing Springs would have 3. They have a caregiver that actually lives in the house. It's one thing to have 24hr care. It's another to have someone who lives there. My dad is suffering from dementia and he has made physical progress here that he was not making when he was at a larger facility. It's a home like enviromnet with 4 residents. Findind a place like Refreshing Springs was better for my dad than to be at his home with 24hr care. It's excellent!... Read more

The daily staff were very good and friendly, but the owner was terrible. And that really impacted how I feel about the place. I feel like all she cared about was the money, and not the care of the residents. My loved one was very ill, and she barely spoke to us, barely called us, barely did anything. It was all her staff, who did everything. She had people in there without proper certifications. There was not even a med tech on staff. It as a horrible experience with the owner. They give you this impression that they will be there for your loved one and give them the best care. And she just relied a lot on the staff to do everything, which is their job to a certain extent. But knowledge is important. They don't know a lot unless they're told, and she wasn't telling them. The staff turnover is unbelievable. They weren't all vaccinated. The food was okay, but I feel like they gave seniors things that didn't make sense, like cold cereal. For what we were paying, they should be serving a hot breakfast. The care was good overall, but you have to stay on top of them for sure. There were absolutely no activities provided. They claimed they would have my loved one up and walking, but he went downhill very quickly because they just left him confined in a chair. If I had to choose again, I would not send my loved one there. And I do not recommend them.
