Didn't take care of my father and lost his glucose meter

They were very friendly, but they didn't provide good care. I took my dad there for four days. I gave him five days' clothing. When I came back he was still in the same clothes, everything was still in the drawers, they lost his glucose meter. They had discussed showering, so they had to take him down the hallway and make sure he remembered, and he hadn't had a shower.

Not a good experience

I would tell others that my husband stayed here for 8 days. It was his first time going into any type of assistance so he escaped. They sent him to a hospital and I was not able to get him out for 15 days. Not a good experience with this facility.

The cargivers at Sycamore Village, treat the residents as part of there family they give a 100% plus they go that extra mile caregivers work very hard nothing is to hard for them to do everything in there power to help the residents. feel Loved and cared for. The only one that I had a issue with was [name removed]. Was really rude and over heard her talking to other nurses making fun of my father . How she acts she seems like she been there for years . Hopefully they fire her and bring in someone that knows what their doing.

I just don't think they had enough staff.

I'm not too impressed with them. It looked good, it's clean, and nice. My loved one fell more than once, though. I don't think they watch the residents closely enough. I chose them because another place closer to home didn't have a place available when I was looking, and I had looked here before. I just don't think they had enough staff. The staff was hard to find when you needed them and no staff was keeping an eye out for the residents and their safety. When a place is short staffed accidents happen and the residents are not being cared for properly. I would not recommend this place for any one's loved one. Also, some of the medication provided was not used.

There's too many residents and not enough staff on each unit. Most of these residents need more care. They don't get changed enough. The food is awful. Too much staff turnover. Staff don't show up.

Not too happy

First day here and not too impressed. One aid for 15-16 people is not right. They have to serve the food, clean it up, get them all to bed. Been here 5 1/2 hours and no ones checked my mom for a change and we were told it's every 2 hours. I could go on in my short experience here.

Ask questions

Many aspects of the Ivy are good. Some of the staff is very caring, and others not. The apartments are nice and allow seniors to have a semblance of independence. For my mother, it was great as she could walk to the nearby library, Walgreens, etc. However, due to poor supervision. my mother was stranded in her bathtub for over 24 hours, and it could've been longer if I had not stopped by after work that day. Three separate aids did not show concern when coming to give her medication and she did not answer the door, nor show up for meals for an entire day. [Removed]. It is a shame, as some members of staff are wonderful.

Horrible Nightmare

Not even worth one star. My in-laws were placed here for long term care. It has been nothing but issues. Both of them require assistance with every day tasks including getting to the bathroom. My father in law requires a feeder at meals. There is rarely anyone available to feed him, letting his food go colder than it arrived and him to go hungry. My mother in law is a fall risk. She has fallen multiple times trying to get to the bathroom or assist my FIL with food/drinks due to lack of answer from call lights. Since there is no one to answer the main phone line after 8, takes forever to get ahold of a nurse, now my MIL has had an accident because they didn’t answer the call light. It’s now 8:30 at night and my FIL is just now getting food in him. Small part of a long list of issues. We are calling corporate for the second time in 2 weeks. We should not have to call up there every time they need something to get someone to go in there. Run far away from this place. What a joke!

Looks are Deceiving

It was a horrible experience. Because they have extreme turnover, new people wills start in the morning and leave in the afternoon and not come back because there's no training. So they're continually deficient in staff. There may be one person in charge of everything. The staff was to one extreme or the other - some of the people were really nice, and some were really bad. The administrative staff was horrible. You can't get ahold of them. Care was pretty much non-existent. They just left my loved one in her bed and wouldn't do anything to help her. She ended up in the hospital more than she was there, and the doctor at the hospital advised us not to send her back to Sycamore Village. Everyone complained about the food, and it looked terrible. They did do well with cleanliness and activities. And the aides who stuck it out and stayed worked extremely hard.

Terrible Facility

This facility is just terrible. They are understaffed, the food is slop and portions are extremely small, rooms go weeks without cleaning and very little socializing is provided so residents are very isolated. Management is useless, even at the corporate level. Do not put your loved one in this place.

Don’t Do It

If you don’t mind having an understaffed environment to put your loved one in, then this is the place for you. I’ve never seen a place that had such a turnaround in my life. They don’t call this a nursing home but it really is but not staffed as such.
