Cost of Senior Living in Atlanta, GA

The Greater Atlanta Area ranks #10 in the entire U.S. for the number of adults age 55 and older, but #21 for senior living costs among the top 30 metropolitan areas most populated by older adults. Unlike some other cities – like Boston, Detroit and Baltimore – senior living costs in the city of Atlanta are not much different than costs in its broader metropolitan area.

Suwanee is the most expensive city for senior living in the Atlanta metro, according to the Senior Living Cost Index at A Place for Mom. Following closely is Peachtree City, the headquarters of many multinational manufacturing corporations and a long-time contender in CNN/Money’s 100 Best Places to Live in the United States. Alpharetta lands in third place, while nearby Duluth just makes it into the top 10.

Among the least expensive Atlanta area cities, you’ll find a hidden gem in Warm Springs, population 478. On the other hand, you’ll also find Griffin and Union City, which have comparable crime rates to Atlanta without the urban amenities and only about a 10% cost savings.
