A nursing home facility provides lodging to at least two persons who have no personal ties to the administrator. A nursing home facility provides its inhabitants with care by on-site nurses. These caregivers provide maintenance, personal care and other health related services for seniors who cannot properly care for themselves due to the effects of aging.

Types of amenities and servicesoffered at nursing homes can include bill pay, wound care for pressure sores or a surgical wound, help with legal questions, and rehabilitation needed due to injury, disability, or illness. A significant portion of nursing home inhabitants are seniors who have a physical or mental disability, require assistance with daily tasks such as bathing, have incontinence issues, or experience difficulty with vision and hearing.
