Arts, Culture, Entertainment, and Recreation

Located just outside of Atlanta, Marietta is a town filled with history. One of the most popular attractions is the Gone With the Wind Museum which collects ephemera and props related to both the book and the movie. For outdoor recreation there is the Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield and Park which offers a variety of walking paths and hiking trails of various intensities. The park was the site of an 1864 Civil War battle that was a part of Union General William T. Sherman’s March to the Sea. The Marietta Museum of History is housed in an 1846 cotton warehouse and features exhibits on local history. The historic Marietta Square is the city’s central park where the weekly farmers market is hosted. The Historic Marietta Trolley tour allows visitors to explore the history of Marietta’s Downtown Square, tour historic homes, and visit the Civil War battlefield at Kennesaw Mountain. There are also walking and trolley ghost tours for those who desire to learn more about local urban legends and supernatural phenomena.


Atlanta public transportation does not service Marietta. However, according to the city website you can ride MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) from the airport to the Arts Center station. After Which you can then take CobbLinc to the Marietta Transfer Center, and then take a CobbLinc bus to your destination.
