Ohio Department of Health supervises this type of community. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to ensure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as medical diagnoses, medication review, functional status assessment, and health history. Staff are required to obtain education in a number of areas. These areas include job responsibilities, residents rights, community procedures, and securing emergency assistance. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include assistance with self-administration of medication, supervision, personal care, and medication administration. There must be one bath or shower for every 8 residents and one toilet for every 8 residents. The maximum occupancy is 4 residents per room. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 17. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include observation, verifying labels, and reminders. Public assistance is available through 1915(c) Assisted Living Program and the 1915(b)(c) Managed Care Demonstration Waiver called MyCare.
