My parents picked it, and it's close to family. Not a lot of communication with the agency.I would recommend, but I just wish they had more planned activities outside the facilities.

I would recommend Chesterwood Senior Living to other families. The move in was fine. Staff, for the most part, are very friendly and kind. I have not had much interaction with either housekeeping or...

While the exterior of the building and the main public areas of the facility are very impressive, I was disappointed by the rooms in the Assisted Living area that I toured. Compared to other facilities that I have recently toured, the rooms were extremely dark, crowded, and outdated. I was also surprised that the only staff that I saw during my tour in this area were two young ladies who were washing laundry. I did not see any nursing staff, even at the nursing station, during the 10 minutes or so that spent in the Assisted Living wing. There was a resident sitting in a wheelchair right next to the nursing station alone and slumped over during that time. I pointed this out to the person giving me the tour, and she seemed unconcerned. During this tour I decided that this was not the place for my mother. My rating: 4 points for the public areas; 2 points for the Assisted Living area.

Not a good fit!!

As soon as we walked into the Barrington of Fort Thomas, I realized it would not be a good place for my father. The place itself was no good, the staff was all very nice, but it was just not a place where I would put my father.

Good Tour Overall

This is a good community from what I saw. The community looked nice and well maintained. The staff I came across were nice and friendly. It was a good tour, but there were many factors that played into where to place my mother. I didn't get the feeling that this was the place for her and here needs. Overall it was good tour.

RUDE AIDES AND SUPERVISORS AND CARE IS LACKING AND SLOW

The facility is very nice, but that is irrelevant because the people in direct contact with patients are RUDE, act like you're bothering them if you ask for assistance. My parent doesn't ask for much (afraid to!), but when wet he/she asked to be changed the aide said she was getting off her shift in 30 minutes and didn't have time, It was 3 hours before anyone came back to help, only because he/she buzzed for help. The girl came in and said, "what do you want?!". Very RUDE and BASIC CARE IS LACKING during September 2017. I had a friend who was here last year for 6 weeks of rehab, and the staff was good then, but the service has REALLY gone down hill!

Food is terrible

My Mom and Dad are there and the food has gotten progressively worse over approximately 9 years. Won't go into particulars, but it's obvious they are cutting corners big time to make them more profits at the expense of the elderly living there getting quality and enjoyable food, especially considering the big bucks being paid for them to live there!!! I challenge the owners to eat what my parents are getting for a month without the food service workers knowing who it's going to!!!

Bad food

My mother won’t eat in the dining room because the food is so bad. They keep promising that it will get better but it doesn’t. She has to watch the amount of trash she puts out each night because the person collecting it only has a small bag it all has to fit in. I think we made a mistake moving her here but it is too late now.

They are incompetent unprofessional greedy unsafe

Feel free to waste your money or assume their fake introduction and yours translate into care. You will regret this decision every day of your loved ones remaining life. If I could rate this negatively I would they don’t belong in this business not their nurse’s administration especially not their poor excuse for social work case manager. Other than a space creating money they don’t give a [removed] about you which is referenced by their forms that show meds admission and death date not date of discharge. Everything is wrong here from stealing to incorrect meds to falls to discrimination.

Bad experience

My husband was in for rehab. He has Parkinson’s and is under the care of a neurologist, he has hallucinations and confusion plus has trouble walking. They called in a psychiatrist without consulting me and he put him on a medication without checking with his neurologist which made him worse. Not a very caring staff at all. The social worker rarely returned calls, I took him out after 2 weeks and he was much worse than when he went in. Plus I took a whole suitcase full of clothes for him and he only had 4 pieces. After calling 6 different times we finally got some back. I have him in a much better place now, the dr just called and was horrified about the med that he was put in there, she isaid no Parkinson’s patient should ever be on that medication. She is going to call his neurologist to talk because chesterwood never did even though the doctor there said she would! Horrible place and I would never put anyone there again.

I am basing this review not on a visit, unfortunately, but on being left hanging. I called the contact and gave a date and time to visit. He said he would call back the next day to confirm. That was over two weeks ago. I never got a call back. The other facilities I've been in touch with have returned phone calls and emails immediately.

No contact with famly!

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE. It seems like a nice place, but they take your family in and you can't see them because of COVID guidelines, and you can't contact them. My aunt has been there less than 24 hours and we have had no contact. When we call, we're transferred around. My aunt isn't answering the room phone or her cell phone and NO ONE cares to tell us what's going on. We have no idea what's happening with her, and she has been unwell for weeks. If my aunt were in prison, I would expect this. But she's in a care facility that does not actually care. Note: This review form asked about cleanliness, friendliness, value, care services and activities. I cannot make a review on those factors as we have not been granted access to the facility or our loved one.

My mom was a patient for a few hours starting in the afternoon. At 5:45 AM the next morning she had a stroke and was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth. They never called to let me know. The hospital called me at 10:20 AM, almost 5 hours later. They said someone "tried" to contact me, so I checked for missed calls at home, work and on my cell. No calls from them. They did make sure her Medicare was charged for a full day. Needless to say, I will never recommend this facility. I am going to contact Medicare and let them know what happened and see if we can dispute the one-day charge.
