Improvement in Communication Needed
I haven't given them high marks in some of the categories, but I also acknowledge that my family members and I may need to adjust our expectations when it comes to long-term care. Like any facility, some of the caregivers do a good job. That said, my biggest "complaint" is that they have not done a good job of communicating with us. I tried to contact the director of nursing several times to schedule an initial care- plan meeting. She didn't return our calls or get back with us when she said she would. By the time we met, our loved one had been at Kesslerwood for a while! I consider that unacceptable. When we finally met and went over our loved one's care plan, she was prepared and did a good job. I'd also say the staff hasn't done the best job communicating with us about our loved one's medications. Times when our loved one has fallen or had other issues, they've been prompt in making us aware of the situation. But when it's involved changing/increasing our loved one's medications, they haven't kept us well informed.

Personable and Very Supportive Staff
We really liked the staff! They went above and beyond to help us. They were SOOO personable and supportive! They even drove to my dad's home in Anderson to do his assessment. Even though we ultimately chose a facility in Anderson that was closer to my dad's siblings, Brandi would call and check to see how he was doing.

A welcoming community with a "home touch" and caring people.
They offered activities to the residents, but our loved one chose not to participate in them. We appreciated how easy the facility was on our move in day and they were very accommodating with everything we asked for. Based on the experience we have had so far with Kesslerwood Place we would recommend the community to other families.

Not a good experience
The response time from staff is very slow- even when I visit, I have to track them down. They were neglectful with the medication administration. They were not forthcoming about injuries received from an aide. Thankfully the hospice nurse was very informing, otherwise we wouldn't know anything.

Better Than Average
I hate being here; however, I do recognize this is where I need to be. The staff are all excellent to work with though. They are good at caring for the residents as well.
There are times the food is excellent and other times it is drab. There are times that you can't tell what vegetables you are eating. The sweets are pretty good though. there is a good quantity and variety of food available.

Kesslerwood Just Feels Like Home
The staff are amazing here! The staff are aware of what is going on with the residents. They even have recognized things about our loved one prior to the family members that were visiting our loved one on a specific day. This makes me feel that my loved one is getting great care here.
The community sits the same residents at the table each time during meal times to get to know the other residents at the table. There is a wide variety of activities for the residents to participate in.
I think this is a great community.

Wonderful place !
My brother has been a resident at Kesslerwood for 18 months and I am grateful everyday that he is surrounded by such dedicated and caring staff at Kesslerwood. The activities that are provided are exceptional. The building itself is very homey and does not feel at all institutional. We could not be happier that he is living at Kesslerwood.

Place where I would put my mom
I would say to give this community a try. I would try to make friends, its hard when you first go into something like this so it can take a while. I would recommend them for your loved one.

All Is Well So Far For Us In This Community
So far all is well for my mother since her move to this community. She is doing well, and I'am comfortable with her move to this facility. They have a good staff, and they have good with taking good of their medication, and have been kind when I visit. There are plenty activities offered through out the week for the residents. I've had lunch with her a few times, and the meals are great. They have a nice variety of foods too choose from. This community is working out well for my family, and I would recommend it to my friends.

3 stories tall!
When I toured Kesslerwood Place, I thought it was very nice, but it was 3 stories. That was too much for us. The facility itself was very clean and the tour guide was informative, but it was not what we were looking for at the time.

Good care for mom
I like the community for the care for my mom. I like the staff and the cleanliness of the community. The meals are appealing and she seems to be happy with the variety. They have a lot of activities that she is active with the other residents. I would recommend the care and the value of this community to other families.

I am satisfied with this community.
Mom seems to be getting along with everyone at this community. I think the staff is great, however I do not think there is enough staff for the amount of residents. They are handling her medication. The maintenance staff are helpful. They offer daily activities and the staff are working on encouraging the residents to participate. Mom likes some of the food. The community seems to be clean and I would recommend it.
