Independent Living

Independent Living Communities provide seniors with a convenient balance between an independent lifestyle and not having to concern themselves with the upkeep of basic tasks and responsibilities. Basic tasks such as meal planning and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and leisure activities is maintained, allowing residents an opportunity to use their time as they choose, free from daily responsibilities. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and backgrounds. Within the individual units, residents have access to a private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a companion if they prefer. While policies differ between communities, numerous residences allow pets as well. If medical or nursing care is desired, residents may always enlist the services of independent health care professionals. There are a variety of costs and benefits to keep in mind when choosing an independent living community. It is important to learn if these services are covered in the care plan: utilities, meals, move-in fee, Waiting list deposit, internet access, private phone, cable TV, and parking. The amenities that pertain to independent living include golf course, restaurant-style dining hall, beauty salon & barber shop, private rental hall, community activities, concierge services, laundry service, and game/TV room.
