Independent Living

For those who would wish to live primarily without assistance but would like the assistance of having their household chores maintained by professionalls, an Independent Living Community could be the perfect fit. Basic needs such as meal preparation and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and leisure activities is provided, allowing residents an opportunity to use their time as they see fit, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and interests. Typically consisting of a private living space and a full kitchen, these communities offer homes with many of the amenities of apartment life but with none of the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and there will be more time to spend with them with the basic maintenance of daily chores out of the way. While policies vary between communities, many residences allow pets as well. If medical or nursing assistance is desired, residents may always enlist the services of private care providers. There are an assortment of advantages and expenditures to keep in mind while selecting an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these services are covered in your care plan: laundry, move-in fee, cable TV, housekeeping, private phone, transportation, field trips, and internet access. The luxuries associated with independent living include laundry service, fitness center & swimming pool, private rental hall, community activities, beauty salon & barber shop, healthcare center, transportation, and game/TV room.
