My loved one was previously a resident at StoryPoint Libertyville and overall things at this facility were great for her. She was happy with everything except for the food, which was just average. However, alternative choices were offered. She is on a gluten free diet, so there were not as many choices for her. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The move in process was very easy. I would recommend StoryPoint Libertyville to others although I would recommend trying the food before making a decision.... Read more

Response from StoryPoint Libertyville
October 10, 2023Hello, We love hearing that your loved one enjoyed our community! We are proud to offer different menu choices for the day as we understand each of our residents has a unique preference. If there isn't anything a resident finds satisfying on our daily menu, we offer a substitute menu. We always encourage connecting with our Executive Chef to address any concerns or preferences on what is being served as we are always open to feedback. Thank you!
StoryPoint Libertyville promised a great deal and didn't deliver. My loved one was not happy there. She felt there was not enough to keep an active 91 year old engaged. It was as if people had given up due to lack of activities and activities that feel geared more towards toddlers than grown adults. Rather than giving her a good Assisted Living experience, they failed on numerous accounts. Paper work was delayed, the room was not prepped and ready, water was shut off, air conditioner wasn't working, room lights were exceedingly dim, etc. There is also a water reclamation plant nearby and we asked about the smell, being familiar with the area. We were told there wasn't a smell or they could count on 1 hand the days it could be smelled. We smelled it numerous times and it permeated the building. The food was terrible and I can not blame the chef. He has to work within the budget and guidelines he was given. When you asked residents about the food, every single person said it wasn't good or it was terrible BUT you got used to it. You shouldn't have to, that is what you are paying for. Cod is not an inexpensive piece of fish and I had the worst piece of cod that I have ever had in my life there. It is pretty tough to ruin cod. Give the chef what he needs to cook the food well. It is one of the few remaining joys left in an older person's life: Good food. My husband attempted to give them feedback at the end and we were supposed to meet with their new director. We showed up for the appointment and she wasn't there. She had called in sick but failed to cancel the appointment. She did not reschedule. They simply failed on many levels. They also appear to be going through a turnover: new chef, new director, head of their care staff left, etc.

September 26, 2023Hello, Thank you for this feedback. We took this back to the team as this does not sound like an experience that we aim to provide our residents and their families. We understand that turnover in the community can be frustrating, but we always strive to provide the best atmosphere for our residents. We would like to connect with you directly to address these concerns and learn more about how we can improve the experience. Please call the community and ask to be put in contact with the Regional Executive Director. Thank you.
My loved one was a resident at StoryPoint Libertyville and overall things were great for him at this facility. They have excellent, friendly staff and a great Chef. The move in was great and they have a good relationship with a furniture rental company. The cleanliness of the facility was great. The value for cost was good. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

StoryPoint Libertyville was also an excellent, ideal fit. At the end of the day, the one bedroom was just a little extra space and just slightly too expensive for my Mother-in-law's budget. The staff were very proactive and helpful, appealing to us to revisit the community, trying to work with management, to accommodate my Mother-in-law's needs. In the course of the sales process, the sales director described features of the community in terms that didnt take ownership, that separated the departments. As an example the description of food service was expressed as, 'THEY fix regular meals with flexible menus...' or referring to maintenance staff, 'THEY come and repair items promptly after a service ticket is created....' Rather our expected descriptions would have been more appealing if the explanations of the community instead expressed, 'WE...' We're sorry our visits and negotiations didn't result in a competitive circumstance that enabled my Mother-in-law's moving in. The community really appeared very well taken care of, with nice activities, pleasant residents and dedicated staff.

The maintenance team member could follow through in a quicker manner, and make sure it is done to the liking of the family and resident. [name removed] with CousaCare is amazing! CoursaCare is a care company that contracts to take care of the residents that families can hire outside. Everyone here is friendly and the residents seem very happy. The food is amazing! There are activities to engaged the residents to socialize.

Staff is kind, environment is bright and cheerful, but be prepared to keep an eye on all details. The handoff from the selling portion to the actual care is bumpy. Be prepared to advocate for your loved one... we have had several issues with incorrect general billing (significantly overcharged) medications, incorrect pharmacy billing (they did not submit my father's medication through insurance) and he also has difficulties getting his meals puréed. The nurses are extremely short staffed so level of service changes often. It sounds like they are between Executive Directors and I hope things improve.

Our family had an in person tour and from everything we saw of the community and all the staff members we met with, we thought it was a great tour experience.
The staff were very friendly, professional, and responsive to the residents needs.. The amount per month including three meals a day and weekly housekeeping. The community did keep the maintenance of the community up and the hallways were always clean.

My loved one was in memory care. The caregivers worked long hours, and sometimes 16 hour shifts. It was very clean, the staff was extremely friendly, and the caregivers had nick names for my loved one. The nurses seemed to be overworked but tried there best. There has been a transisition in staff, in which they are geeting alot of new people. It's a beautiful environment.

September 6, 2022Hello, We really appreciate your review and are happy to learn that you appreciate our friendly staff and beautiful environment. I've seen so many places that were absolutely disgusting. But this place has exceeded all of our expectations. I like everything overall, including how friendly and accommodating the staff are. There are residents sitting in the lobby talking with each other all hours of the day. I've never seen the residents all congregating and communicating with each other so much anywhere else. You never see people just sleeping in a wheelchair. The care has been phenomenal. At other places, my mom would tell me when someone hurt her while helping her, and I have heard no negative comments from her here. No one is rough - they're all very nice, gentle, and patient with her. And they do things the way she wants them to be done.

Our family had an in person tour and everything was great, all the people we met with were very friendly and the community was very clean but the location was just to far from us
I have been very pleased with my residency for one year now. the services provided are very appreciated and adequate. any questions or problems I've had have been resolved every time very quickly. dining facilities are great. wait staff is very prompt and thorough. this is a beautiful place. nursing staff has been very good. I have nothing to complain about.
We are so excited to be having our loved one more into StoryPoint, we cannot wait. We have had more conversations with this community then our loved ones current community. It is already a night and day experience. Right when you walk in they always have 15-20 people around the fireplace engaging with each other. It is so inviting, personable and just a bright atmosphere overall. Everyone that we have met so far is so friendly.
I chose StoryPoint Libertyville because it had a nice feel to it and I really enjoyed meeting people when I took the tour. It was also lees expensive than the facility that I was previously at before this. I would recommend to others looking.
