Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to guarantee their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as assessment by a trained assessor and a nursing assessment. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include staff may place containers within reach, staff may observe and record medication side effects, and residents may self-direct administration of medications. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include all snacks and meals must meet the recommended dietary guidelines of the National Academy of Science, provide snacks between meals and before bed, staff responsible for food prep/service must have knowledge of resident nutritional requirements, and provide three or more meals a day.
