Assisted living communities arrange residential living communities and health care to your loved one who need a helping hand with cooking or mobility. Assisted living communities commonly provide aid with transportation and appointments, outings for leisurely activity, and help with the activities of daily life. Florida has a number of provisions associated with this kind of community. The Bureau of Health community Regulation governs this type of community. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to make sure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as community must document any substantial changes in a resident’s status which may necessitate relocation to a more specialized community , medical examination report, communities must document such assessment, and monthly nursing assessment of resident as ordered by physician . There must be one toilet for every 1 residents and one bath or shower for every 1 residents. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 1. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. Staff members obtain training in a variety of areas. These areas include community sanitation procedures, resident behavior and needs, reporting incidents, and emergency evacuation. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include placing an oral dosage in the resident’s hand, opening the container and removing a prescribed amount of medication, and licensed nursing staff may administer medications. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include meals must be adapted to residents physical abilities , meals must be adapted to residents’ food habits, the community must provide therapeutic diets as ordered by the resident’s health care provider for residents who require special diets, and meals must be adapted to residents preferences. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include personal care services, assistance with self-administration of medications, nursing services, and assistance with activities of daily living . Public assistance is available through 1915(b)(c) MLTC program.
