HarborChase is friendly and caring
My husband was there for less than 8 months before he passed. He was not able to take advantage of many services offered. However based on the experience we did have with the community we have recommended them to other families and will continue to recommend.

Red flags
Beautiful location, and setting but the staff are not measuring up to the pledge they portray. My beloved grandmother is always soiled her clothing always missing , she's never encouraged to walk, just sits in a chair until her feet swells up. The staff they assigned to her , wear a frown they are never available yo help and are very nasty when you ask for help. One told me in her limited vocabulary "do I look like I sit around doing nothing "I was speechless I ended up toileting and putting my grandmother to bed myself, not the first time . I've been in the healthcare industry for 19 years from the icu to outpatient surgical center to think of all I have service now it's my turn to ask for help which I pay more than my own mortgage for and I'm treated this way . #traumatic to be continued

Very Pleased!
The staff has been exceptionally helpful and friendly during my father's move and especially during his transition in during the first two months. They are very responsive and easily reachable in any time of need or with questions. My sister and I would very much recommend HarborChase of Tamarac to family and friends.

Excellent place for your loved one

It's a Nice Place
It is nice the residents are able to walk around the community. The meals seem to be the same each time and the food isn't good on taste. They seem to be bringing powdered eggs to my loved one after being told my loved one didn't like them. It is the same options on the menu each day.

Pleased with HarborChase
They give great care here and they are very responsive. We have been very pleased with the facility, the staff members give a lot of personalized attention to their residents. As far as I understand the food is served very well and they have a lot of activities available for residents to participate it. I think it is a top notch place and I would recommend it as long as you are able to afford it.

It depends on the level of care your parents needs
We did not have a good experience at HarborChase of Tamarac and I ended up moving my mom out. If your loved one is independent it would be fine, but if they need any type of care like showering, bathing, eating, etc. it is not good and I would not recommend.

All Smoke and Mirrors- STAY AWAY
I DO NOT recommend HarborChase if you care about your loved one. Majority of the staff are uncaring and times NASTY. I will start with Laura, the Manager of the facility. Before my mom moved in, promises were made on how I will be about to communicate with her. After the week she moved in, the rules were changed and I needed advocate for her to maintain communication. Not long after my mother moved into Harbor Chase her Teeth were lost. [name removed] told me "apparently they were thrown out". [amount removed] of dental work thrown out.. I will commend [name removed] and [name removed] . 2 of the staff who actually responded to my moms care. The staff would arrange FaceTime calls with me and put my mom in front of a TV where she could not i hear or talk to her. ONLY if [name removed] was there was the request acknowledged. One night my mother fell out of bed and needed to go to the hospital for a staple in her head. The next day staff was unaware. [name removed] is very Nasty If you care about your loved ones, stay away

Upscale dementia facility
It is pretty expensive but nicer then the other communities we looked at. They have had multiple residents test positive with COVID, but they have done a great job with minimizing the spread and keeping us updated on when a resident has tested positive. They sanitized the place 100 times a day, they have really stayed on top of it. The people who are in charge at this community are really good, very experienced. Other staff members aren't as consciousness. Care services are well above average. Prior to COVID they activities were great, since the lock down they try there best, but the residents aren't really able to participate in activities.
My mother liked the food, we were impressed with what they served. The residents get to make their own ice cream in the afternoon. Activities director would even offer a cappuccino or a glass of wine before bed. The staff has really taken the time to get to know each individual residents, they treat them with kindness. They have great communication with the families of the residents there. This facility is beautiful, you would think you were stepping into a resort. This community allows the residents more freedom and flexibility then other facilities we looked at. It has a very upbeat positive vibe to it.

Well run, beautiful community
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, they were cleaning the community multiple times a day. There are no stains or anything anywhere in the community and it never smells bad.
The senior staff are very experienced and friendly, the care giving staff changes a lot just because of the way their shifts are structured and some are more conscientious than other. If my mother gets any small injuries, they do have to bring in outside nursing staff to treat it, which has lead to a few instances of care that we weren't totally happy with.
We do like the community a lot better than a nursing home because they have good amenities and activities available for all the residents. My mother has actually become more social during her stay here, participating in happy hours, special dining events, and other socially engaging activities. The grounds are also wonderful and the residents will often be brought outside when the weather is nice.
My mother also has a private room, which is very spacious including the bathroom. Her room looks over the garden, there's plenty of lighting, we can decorate it to her own liking, and they provide her with cable TV. It doesn't feel institutional at all; it is very pleasant and comfortable.

Mom is still adjusting
The staff seem to be encouraging and they have been able to get mom to eat more. She has not yet participated in any of the activities offered. I feel she is getting use to living here and has started to make friends. They keep the community clean and I would recommend it.

After the tour and an extensive discussion with the directors, we decided Harbor Chase is the only place we would consider for our mom. The open, community layout and the positive feel we got from the residents and staff were far different from other "locked memory units" we visited.

A Nice Community, My Tour Was Good

It Is All Great Here
The staff are great, the food is great, the community is clean. I feel the staff are a 5! My mom enjoys the meals and likes it very much. There are activities for her to participate and she enjoys it too. It is lovely here and Mom is having fun and doing really well!

A positive transition
The overall experience has been very positive. The staff has been responsive and genuinely appear interested in my stepmother's adjustment and well being. In spite of the fact that i was assured that her laundry would be handled separately, her clothes are not in good condition. She did receive medical attention in a timely fashion and is now receiving PT and OT.

Mom is doing as good as can be expected considering. She is currently at HarborChase and I know she's in good hands there. The staff have been outstanding and because of Mom's age (103) she doesn't participate in many activities but they have them there for the residents. I'd say its been a good experience so far.
