Assisted living communities offer recreational activities, oversight, and care to individuals around 65 years old. The services offered often include aid with the activities of daily life. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to guarantee their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as communities must document such assessment, community must document any substantial changes in a resident’s status which may necessitate relocation to a more specialized community , medical examination report, and monthly nursing assessment of resident as ordered by physician . This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include opening the container and removing a prescribed amount of medication, placing an oral dosage in the resident’s hand, and unlicensed staff may assist residents with self-administration. Public assistance is available through 1915(b)(c) MLTC program. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. There must be one toilet for every 1 residents and one bath or shower for every 1 residents. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 1. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include personal care services, assistance with self-administration of medications, assistance with activities of daily living , and nursing services.
