Assisted living communities offer healthcare, recreational activities, and oversight to people around 65 years old. Services provided often involve aid with ADLs. Residents may be kept under supervision and evaluation. In some situations, communities may provide nursing, hospice, or “aging in place”. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as medications, treatments, and other required nursing services, he program must be reviewed as the resident’s condition requires, RN conducts consultation with the resident, and plan must include types and frequency of services needed. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. Public assistance is available through Medicaid 1915(c) waiver programs and through the non-Medicaid state-funded Connecticut Home Care Program for Elders. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include communities must provide residents with three meals per day. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include opening medication packages, reminding residents to take medications, and medication administration .
