When families search for senior living, Illinois is often at the top of the list — and for good reason.
People often say Illinois is a small version of the United States as a whole, meaning the state has a little bit of everything the country has to offer. With mostly moderate weather, plus plenty of farmland and rural towns to go along with its mid-size industrial cities and Chicago — the third-largest city in the U.S. — Illinois is a uniquely desirable retirement destination. It’s the quintessential Midwestern state, bordering the Mississippi River in the west, the Ohio River in the east, and Lake Michigan in the north. The “Land of Lincoln” also has a rich political history: Other than Honest Abe, several other U.S. presidents have called Illinois home, including Ulysses S. Grant, Ronald Reagan, and Barack Obama.
Currently, A Place for Mom partners with more than 390 senior living communities in Illinois that provide memory care.
The median monthly cost of memory care in Illinois is about $6,100.
My mom has been at CC for 1 year. She has dementia and when she went she weighed 85 lbs now she eats 3 healthy meals a day and is so happy there. I don't think there is not anything CC would not do for her...
My father and I made the decision to move him back to IL after it became apparent that he could no longer live by himself so far away from family. After a very thorough search, we chose Brookdale because of...
Encore knows and understands dementia patients. And when you know things well and hold to high standards, it equals a wonderful place for human beings to be cared for. My father received excellent, truly...
Our experience there has been generally great. Has it been perfect? No. But I can’t imagine any other facility doing a better job. My Mom who has Alzheimer’s has been there a little over 10 months. She might...

Overall my experience was a good one. Very caring and friendly staff, good food, good PT. Mercy circle was my first choice after my surgery experience and I'm happy to be able to get such great care. Thank...
I would recommend them. The facility offers large living spaces which is uncommon for an assisted living. They are now supportive care.
It's new and lovely and working very hard to flourish. I certainly would recommend Trulee. Move in was very smooth. They work with a group that regularly moves people from their homes to Trulee and sets up...
It's a very nice place for my mother. Not sure if there is anything that they need to improve on from what my mom tells me. Most of the staff is very friendly and she seems to be happy there.

It was a very great experience. I will come back if I can. Too many people making the food and even different ingredients. It's never the same.
The level of care and available PT/OT therapy onsite is excellent. Staff is overall friendly during visits as well as responsive with regards to long term care inquiries and processing. Staff is kind and...
My mom moved into Sunrise of Naperville last year. We looked at the newer, more modern places and decided to move to one of them. I am embarrassed to say it was because it was "prettier" and the salesperson...
In Illinois, memory care facilities are licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). They are licensed the same way as assisted living facilities, therefore they must meet licensure requirements set forth by the IDPH’s Division of Assisted Living.
Because Illinois licenses both memory care and assisted living facilities the same way, memory care facilities in Illinois must provide residents with the following standard assisted living services:[01]
The Division of Assisted Living also sets forth specific regulations for care provided to residents with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia types:[02]
