It's been good, but there have been a couple of bumps in the road. It's under a lot of construction right now. Everybody is friendly the times when I've been there. The people who provide the care are very good. They have a restaurant type service, and there are sometimes complaints about that part of the staff. They have a couple of people that run video games for the residents, they play bingo, and run movies, they have outings, and they have a vehicle to take them to the mall. I think once the construction is done things will be pretty smooth. For the service they provide it's pretty reasonably priced, they do offer some care services if needed for extra charge. Some are a separate price and some come with the care level. If the care level improves they don't adjust it. They have a center courtyard that is completely surrounded by the building so the residents can safely walk around.

My family member was a resident at the Promenade at Blue Hill. The Promenade is a small facility. The doors are locked and a code is needed to get through them, which prevents residents from being able to wander out. The people who work there are caring and nice to residents. The food is good and residents’ food preferences are accommodated. There are activities all day and musical guests come in to entertain. There is a nurse on duty during the day, and a doctor who visits regularly. In general, residents are well cared for. That said, there are some negatives. There is a problem with theft of residents’ belongings, and management is aware of it and does nothing about it. The only time families hear from the director is once a year to ask for more money (there are increases in costs every year). The rooms are very basic, with old furniture, and cleaning is mediocre at best. The Promenade at Blue Hill is therefore mostly good, with some negative aspects.

Activities are abundant. The staff is friendly and helpful. I'm not sure that the nursing side of things are up to par though. My mom became ill and I felt as though they were really just blaming her age for her issues and did not notice the drastic changes in her. The doctor was not readily available. I was not comfortable or impressed with the medical skills. There was no sense of urgency. In fact, the head nurse was on vacation when my mother was nearing the end of her life and the was little backup for the head nurse. The facility itself in very nice, provided you are relatively healthy.

The place is clean but short staffed. When you need one you can't find them .The food isn't how they tell you.The portions are so small and the choices are not great. The activities are always the same. Most people spend their time in their rooms. If you complain about anything nothing is done about it. The one thing good about it is the outdoor garden section.

My loved one is a resident at The Promenade at Middletown. She hates the food, other than the sandwiches. The activities are good, though there are not many outings. The staff is okay, but can get a bit snappy with the residents. I'm not sure of the backstory on why, though. The cleanliness is good.

They do a lot of great activities, not sure how much individual attention is paid to room upkeep. Overall I would recommend Promenade at Blue Hill to others.

Some of the staff seemed frustrated and not too friendly and there were some small language barriers. Many of the staff were caring. When things got dire with my mom, the staff was not too responsive. Housekeeping was good. Everything was clean and they came each day. There was not a lot of communication with the family. They did let family visit at all hours, which was great. The move in process was smooth. The meals were relatively good. Nice setting. My mother was in a one bedroom apartment, which was spacious and very nice and large. I would ask that the staff be a little more tender with the elderly, more patient. If the resident is not feeling well, that should be embraced and they should not be charged for delivery of food to their room. They encouraged my mother to use their staff doctor. However, he was not there often enough and she never had a visit from him. They should have him or her do an examination pretty quickly post move in to get a baseline. The doctor was not readily available when she needed him and the head nurse was on vacation. Things there with the staff were okay when her health was good. As soon as she declined I felt like she was ignored unless I kept calling for them to please check her condition. They responded quickly upon calling. But the fact that I had to call was not great. I would recommend this facility, as it is beautiful and lots of activities, if your loved one is in relatively great health.

The facility and staff makes the residents feel at home. The biggest improvement would be in the food. Sometimes it's good, but there are days when residents get a piece of bread and coffee for breakfast and that is it. Overall I would recommend The Promenade at Middletown to others looking for assisted living.

In NY they have a program in place we are currently 3 on the list that they give us money towards the monthly bill because in there eyes they want our money to last longer so it's actually less they pay in the long run depending on how long the person lives. Based on the experience

Our family had an in person tour and the tour experience was very good and it would of been one of our choices but the community itself was just a little run down - it needs some updating

My loved one has been very happy here. The staff are very attentive and she has been thrilled with them. She does not participate in the activities but there are a lot offered. It is a smaller community and she really enjoys that because she is able to really get to know the other residents and is not as overwhelming as some of the bigger ones.

This has been a pretty good experience for us. I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. I am happy with the staff and the communication is good. The community has a beautiful courtyard for the residents to use, and it appears that many of the ground floor apartments have access to this. This was one of the main reasons we selected the community. The medical portion could be communicated better to the family. Medication management is one of the care services offered to the residents. This has been a change for my loved ones. It would be nice to offer more details to the residents and the families for those that request it. The food is okay and edible. There could be more spices in the meals, as they are currently pretty bland for my loved ones. There are activities for the residents to participate in if they choose to. They do have a piano that my loved ones enjoy.

Promenade looked like a wonderful place. The staff were all great and they had a lot of amenities offered. My mom would not have used all of these amenities, so we felt that we would have been paying for services that were not going to be used. They did have a very nice fancy dining room that residents can rent out to dine with their families. The rooms were average size but did have their own private bathrooms in the room.

Our family had an in person tour and there were definitely some positive things - it is very cozy, right when you walk in they have a little community center gazebo and the people are really nice. However it is a little bit older and we wanted a smaller community especially since we were looking during the height of covid

Pre COVID we had no problems at all, the location is very close to home so we could visit all the time. The staff has been very nice, they have all been very welcoming. Since COVID it is not very accessible at all. They allow window visits but the communication is very very optimal. They also allow zoom calls but they are restricted and are only set up at certain times. This community is very very clean, we would give them a high value. Once again the staff members are very nice, but at times there was just not enough of the to watch over the residents. And at times our loved one would not receive the help they needed because of it.

Nice facility in area of shopping centers, many restaurants, and the U of Albany across street.Promenade is a Medicaid approved facility so most services and care can be covered if income level eligible. Accomodations are all on 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors so need some mobility to use elevators. Studios and one bedroom accomodatioons are standard furnished but you can bring own furnishings. Medicaid/billing coordinator very helpful w/navigating system.
